HALL OF FAME BUTTERMILK PIE FOR YOUR THANKSGIVING GATHERING

We gather together to ask the Lord’s blessing;

Everyone looks forward to the sweet endings
at the Thanksgiving feast and the pies should be
exceptional!
In addition to the perfect Pumpkin Pie, Apple Pie
and Cherry Pie....we always include our southern favorite...
THE BUTTERMILK PIE!!!
I have posted a few excellent recipes on Estelle's
for a wonderful Buttermilk Pie but this one
turns out perfectly every time.
If you would like to ensure you will have a beautiful
and scrumptious recipe for your family's sweet ending
on Thanksgiving Day.....then this one is for you!

HALL OF FAME BUTTERMILK PIE-from COOKING TEXAS STYLE
1 ¾ cup sugar
 4 T. flour
½ t. salt
1/2 cup melted butter, cooled
3 eggs, beaten
1 cup buttermilk
1 t. vanilla
½ t. lemon extract
Dash of nutmeg
9-inch uncooked pie shell

Combine flour, sugar and salt in mixing bowl. Add cooled melted butter and beaten eggs, mix with stand or hand mixer until well blended. Stir in buttermilk, vanilla and lemon extract and blend another minute. Pour into unbaked pie shell and lightly sprinkle with nutmeg. Bake in preheated 400 degree F. oven for 15 minutes, reduce temperature to 325 degrees F. and bake for an additional 30-40 minutes.

The top of the pie should be a beautiful golden brown...do not overbake!

The texture is creamy and buttery...this pie also slices
beautifully and is marvelous served warm, at room temperature
and some even like it a bit chilled!
