FATHER'S DAY PLANNING

Good Morning Kindred Spirits....
we have been busy bees around here....
You can certainly tell summer is here....
it's hot and humid along with sporadic rain showers...
so I decided it was the perfect time to turn my attention
to downsize a few things and make donations to Goodwill....
always a good thing to do....
I donated a good supply of cookbooks, candles,
dresses and shoes, throw blankets and throw pillows....
all in such good condition, never worn and gently used...
someone is going to hit the motherlode.....
Anyhoo.....my attention now turns to honoring

FATHER'S DAY....IT'S GOING TO BE A FAMILY AFFAIR....

I have planned the tablesetting....which is first and foremost.....



I wanted only one little appetizer which is going
to be cream cheese with Apple Strawberry Rhubarb Jam
and Cocktail crackers...a taste of summer to
accompany the cocktail hour....

Serving our favorite LA SCALA SALAD....

Grilling steaks poolside....

Rather than baked potatoes, the boys requested
Hashbrown Casserole...they love this and have
for many years....

And a light, cool and creamy sweet ending...

my Cannoli Poke Cake....

I served this at Christmas and it was a real hit!

FATHER'S DAY PREPARATIONS

 

Hey y'all...are you ready for the weekend?
Even though the darling and I are retired,
the weekend still seems special to us.
And Sunday is when we honor the Dad's in our lives...
those who sacrifice much for those they love and cherish!
I will tell you, it's dang hot here in Texas and so I needed
to think of something cool, breezy and colorful for this
special Sunday in June!
Honey, we are going TROPICAL..bright, vivid colors
and a menu that I know the boys really love!

I decided to pull together a few things that will give a tropical vibe
to our celebration and thought it would be really fun to use
a few items I have saved over the years.....
these plates are from the Opalhouse collection from Target...
probably five or six years ago.......

A few tropical candles...here and there.....



This smells heavenly....love lemon scented candles

I thought these would be terrific for holding
dry peanuts and pistachios for snacking.....

Now here's what's on the menu.....

BBQ CHICKEN SLIDERS with
cold, crispy cold slaw.....

CHEESE STUFFED BACON WRAPPED HOT DOGS.....
Mother made these from the time I was six years old....

A cold POOLSIDE DIP served
with LIME CHIPS

and a very special request....

My HEAVEN ON EARTH STRAWBERRY CAKE

I wanted an easy menu as I'm sure
we will be poolside most of the day.....
looks good and sounds good, don't you think?

I'm excited to make this day special
for these terrific and dedicated DAD'S....

and make beautiful memories....

A DUO FATHER'S DAY CELEBRATION

I believe it proved to be another fantastic FATHER'S DAY CELEBRATION.....

There was alot of preparation for pool time

and

a picnic style lunch

when all the gang arrived.....

including a Labrador, a Rottweiler and a German Shepard......

We honored the darling

and

number 2 son.....

We finally got to spend a weekend with the grands...

growing up all too fast....

soon to be a freshman in high school

and 

her senior year.....

LOVE...fresh gulf oysters......

Calamari.....

the boys.....

our daughter in laws....

I think they have become good friends......

we could not have wished for better.....

We had a precious waitress who took such good care of us.....

good to the last bite......

FATHER'S DAY AND JULY 4TH SNEAK PEEK

We celebrated Father's Day a week early

this year and it all turned out to be just a great Fun-Filled weekend!

The best thing about our kiddos is that

they ENJOY and LOVE each other!

They laugh  ALOT and make our times together memorable!

The only problem is we miss 

The Divine Miss M and her family at most of our celebrations...

so we are headed to HOT-LANTA to spend

some time with them and celebrate 

THE DUKE's birthday!

I simply adore this girl....

Every time I see them. they change..more mature...funnier and delightful...but

growing up into young adults.
