SMALL WAYS TO ENJOY WINTER HYGGE

Hello Kindred Spirits...
I feel this is the last of Winter as the days roll by...
those who live in the northeast must be feeling those
winter blues somewhat with all the snow and ice...
we tend to stay indoors more during the colder months
and our spirits can use a bit of refresh...
it's something we can all benefit from...
Today, I am sharing a few minimal ways I
soothe my mind and body......

I enjoy keeping a bowl of fresh citrus on the dining table....
the colors are so vibrant and fresh and it also serves
as a reminder to have a healthy snack

I use this time to refresh the kitchen linens....
adding something bright and colorful can bring a true happiness....

Talk about heartwarming....
making a lovely big pot of homemade vegetable beef soup...
the aroma of soup simmering on the stove all day
will make your family full of happy anticipation for dinner.....

I so enjoying trying a new recipe to add to my favorites....
baking can be so therapeutic..
today I decided on a scrumptious Butter Pecan Pound Cake....

Try adding a lovely wax warmer to your entryway....
it certainly can set the mood for a cozy home feel.....

Look for the winter limited edition line of bath products...
more luxurious and moisturizing during winter months....

Try a rich vanilla body cream after a pedicure and then
slip into some cozy socks for around the house.....

For the evening, I like changing out a glass of wine
with a refreshing mocktail.....
this is so crisp and light...
a mix of limeade, coconut spritzer and fresh lime.....

Take note when the fur babies find a sun puddle in the afternoon....
wasn't this a beautiful day?

MONTHLY BUCKET LIST FOR A HYGGE LIFESTYLE

Perhaps the beginning is just to say, "nice things are going to happen
this year"....let's try our best to make them come true....
I decided to think about all the beautiful ideas that I wanted
to achieve each month for 2023....
perhaps you may want to come along....

January
It's cold,
We tend to hibernate.
Let's prepare a lovely batch of homemade Chicken and Dumplings.....

February
Ah, let's embrace our romantic self...
Prepare a lovely dinner for yourself or the one you love...
light the candles, play Frank Sinatra tunes....grill a steak and
enjoy a glass of wine...use linen napkins...
and....dress for dinner......

March
Cold winds are blowing
and the weather can be unpredictable.
It's a good time to enjoy the last of Winter
and make plans for the coming season...
scour magazines for inspiration of gardening,
cooking and spring.

April
Easter is a time for renewal.....
buy some tulips, serve a celebratory Easter brunch and
color some fancy eggs for your Easter basket!

May
This is the time to putter around your garden shed..
put your mind to designing a garden with romantic
blooms such as Tea Roses, Jasmine, Lavender and Gerber Daisies.
Purchase a lovely pair of garden gloves......

June
It's time...Summer has arrived.....
Make a fresh pitcher of Lemonade and
homemade Snickerdoodles....
Put on your sunhat and a pretty sundress
while you enjoy the warmth of the sun on the patio.

July
Plan a weekend getaway as you
celebrate Independence Day...
make a point to wear the good ole' red, white and blue!

August
The last of Summer...
stay cool...swim in the pool
and plan for the fall season...
be lazy, grill hamburgers and make potato salad..
serve it up with an ice cold cocoa-cola!

September
Plan an afternoon to go apple picking
or visit your local farmer's market for fresh apples...
make an apple pie and plan a picnic...
Be sure to bake a treat for the school age children....

October
It's time to bring out all the pumpkins and mums
and fall blankets...
Plan a picnic and make smores...enjoy the firepit
on a cool fall evening.....wear flannel shirts and warm socks..
watch football and cheer your team to victory!

November
The last of the fall season....
time for the Thanksgiving gathering and
all efforts go toward the most decadent family dinner...
we give thanks for the harvest, the beautiful colors
that nature surrounds us with....
it is a month to be thankful for all of our blessings.....

December
The Christmas season is upon us....
we must plan, decorate, bake good things to eat,
wrap gifts for those we cherish and celebrate
the Christmas Story....
bake cookies, plan an outing with grandchildren
and watch all the Christmas movies you can possibly watch..
play music as you decorate the tree..
gather with family and enjoy every minute!

I would say that's a darn good bucket list.......
May peace and contentment fill our homes.....

WINTER HYGGE...WHIPPING CREAM BISCUITS

As Texas returns to normal...slowly but surely....
we are so thankful for all of you who reached out
and left such heartfelt and kind comments on my previous post!
We are so touched and so grateful to have connected with each
and every one of you......
how kind and lovely you are......

Practicing hygge does not require lavish expenditures.
It is about the experience.......

Paula's Whipping Cream Biscuits
2 cups Self-Rising flour
1 T. sugar
1 1/2 cups whipping cream

Combine ingredients and blend gently together.
Roll dough out on a floured surface and cut with biscuit cutter.
Bake at 450 degrees for 10 minutes or until light golden brown!

One of the core concepts of hygge, is to be cozy,
comfortable and happy inside your own home.....

Serve with cold pats of butter and your favorite jam....
today, I used Red Currant Jam!

Hygge is about returning to simple values and simple pleasures....
what can be more comforting than a breakfast of hot,
homemade biscuits on a winter morning.......

One of the attributes of hygge is to slow down
and take your time to be present in your daily life,
enjoying the little things that come your way.......

There is nothing more beautiful and lovely to look at
than our beautiful Mae Mobley relaxing in a sun puddle.....
This is finding coziness and happiness within......
