BROWNIES...FROM MISS KATHARINE HEPBURN!

 1. Never quit.
2. Be yourself.
 3. Don't put too much flour in your brownies.

She was a living legend...such a strong example of an independent woman and seemed to live life on her own terms. What's not to admire? I have always adored her. Although not particularly thought of as a "great" actress, due to her sometimes shrill voice, she certainly was legendary in old Hollywood.

In July, 2003, Heather Henderson of St. Paul Minnesota, wrote the editor of the New York Times, telling the story of her own relationship with the famous actress. It turns out, Heather was struggling with her college years at Bryn Mawr, which happened to be Miss Hepburn’s Alma Mater. She tells of the pep talk she received when Heather and her father were invited to tea at Miss Hepburn’s town house on East 49th Street. The entire article can be read here. She also tells the "brownie" story, and provides Miss Hepburns' recipe!

  4. Quite a woman! She suffered a lot of tragedy in her life that could have done her in if she had allowed it. I must read the link when I go. I do love brownies and these sound rich and delicious. Pecans....hmmmm...

  5. I've always admired Katherine Hepburn's spunk! What an independent proud woman she was. I love the old photograph of her, Betsy. Her brownies sound like just the right dessert with a chocolate loving friend. ♥

  8. Love this post. Small spelling correction: Katharine with an a! I know this only because that's how my name is spelled.
