Bringing Home the Holiday Spirit

Weary, but content, Christmas Day will wind to a close. We can at last simply sit and enjoy the sheer pleasure of just being together as a family. The children will plead for another moment or so to play with their new toys in the glow of the Christmas tree lights, then upstairs they will go for bedtime stories, prayers and a few last whispers about a very special day that will stay always in our hearts.

Throughout the festivities, as we feast and exchange gifts, we try never to lose sight of the true meaning of the holiday, the original gift, Christ the Lord. May we all remember to turn our full attention to the pleasure of sharing our holiday within the loving circle of family.

  1. Very pretty....just want to tell you I made the poppy seed chicken meal. My husband absolutely loved it. Score points, I think Christmas will be good to me...lol. Thanks for the recipe.

PS Do you cook your chicken first? I didn't and had to double the cooking time, probably did it wrong but it all turned out wonderful.

  2. Baking this for an hour is probably correct. I normally bake casseroles such as this in a porcelein cast iron skillet, covered. So it sounds like you made a perfect dish and so glad your hubby enjoyed it! I also think meat turns out better when cooked at a lower temp for longer periods of time. Glad you provided that info on the cooking time!
