BLUEBONNETS ON THE WAY TO AUSTIN

Spring is blooming all over in the
Great State of Texas!
We spent our weekend in Austin
to add a few flourishing touches to our youngest
son's new apartment!
We were fortunate enough to be joined
by Greg and Jenn on this weekend excursion!

You know the food must be pretty awesome
when you return over and over to your favorite lunch spot!
We all couldn't wait to visit Lucy's for our favorite
fried chicken, sweet potatoes and fried okra!
We listened to the tunes of a live band
since this was South by Southwest weekend...
music could be heard throughout Austin.......

Oh the sight of a bachelor's fridge...in a new apartment....
a six pack of beer and the coffee cake his mother gave him.....
oy vey!

We spent the afternoon at two of my favorite stores...
Target and Home Goods!
Oh yes.....I forgot to mention...
Mae Mobley traveled with us on her first trip to Austin...
she was a real trooper!
Since Mae requires her medication every morning...
she goes where we go...this limits our travel for the time being,
but she really did well adapting to the travel.
We found some great art, bedding and a new
coffee table for the new home away from home!
And...like any good MOM,
I loaded him up with cleaning supplies!!!

This was OUR first time to stay at an AIRBNB
and I must say, we were guests at a darling urban style
home....pottery barn worthy!
I myself, cannot imagine strangers staying in my home,
but this couple must be comfortable with their arrangement.
It was a three story condo that was just gorgeous!
This is Mae exploring the spiral stairway
leading up to the third level, which was their home office!

Then it was on to dinner on Congress Street!
Lights, people, music and great food......

Greg and Jenn had not experienced Perla's yet, so we
decided to return to a place we have learned to love!

The weather was perfect!

The patio was a perfect spot to people watch!

Beautiful isn't it?
Reservations were at 9:00 PM,
which is a bit late for me to have dinner,
and it actually ended up being closer to 10:00 PM
before we ate...very busy night with all the
people in town for SBSW!
To all a goodnight after this......

Greg and Jenn wanted
Juan in a Million breakfast tacos before
heading back to Dallas....

we opted for a more traditional small breakfast...
old tummies I think....
we visited with Rob in the morning and then
said our goodbyes....
miss him already!

I LOVE this time of year in Texas....
Easter is approaching and the wildflowers
can be seen on our Interstates and Highways....

These photos of course are taken at a blur pace
while traveling...but I love the Texas countryside!

I simply adore the sights of the
Bluebonnets and Indian Paintbrush....
it really makes my heart sing!

I look forward to seeing what y'all did for the weekend!
Happy Spring everyone!

  1. You are making me homesick for Texas! Looks like Mae fared well. Love the bachelor's fridge - just the necessities. I put Lucy's and Perla's on my list for my next trip to Austin. Boy do I ever miss seeing those bluebonnets! Have a great week, Betsy.

  2. I think it is wonderful that the bluebells and paint brush compliment each other . Your son fridge made me smile. Looks as if everyone had a good time. So happy Mae went along. Blessings, xoxo, Susie

  3. I just found your blog through Katie's. Thanks for the tips on the Austin restaurants. I went to UT, but that was many years ago and so much has changed. I'm looking forward to following a fellow Texas blogger. (I'm in Houston.) Have a great week!

i'm so glad she gets to travel with you. even if the reason is not one we would choose.
and the peek inside youngest son's fridge. LOLOL!!! how adorable is that!
i'd say for a handsome bachelor it's very well stocked. :D

  5. Awww...it's a beautiful place to visit!!! I have never seen the fields of bluebells except in pictures but I bet they are gorgeous.
Love the family pictures and that the B&B you stayed in was a good experience. We have friends that use them all the time. The realtor thought our house would be a perfect candidate for that as we can close off a whole 'living' space---just not something I want to do.

Hope you have a great week- xo Diana

  6. What a lovely weekend, Betsy. It's so nice to help our kiddos get settled in a new place. Cleaning supplies for your son made me chuckle. Made me remember doing the same for our son many years ago. I would love to see the blue bonnets of Texas in bloom one day. Have a nice evening. ♥
