LUKE'S MAD HATTER PARTY

I simply love party themes that revolve around
Alice in Wonderland.
It's hard to imagine the Disney movie goes all the way
back to RKO Studio on it's original production!
I chose this classic theme for throwing Luke
a party that I hope he had fun with!
Here are some highlights from our afternoon
Mad Hatter Soiree!

When you have your grandchild visit
from out- of -town, time is precious!
You want to create memories
that they will carry with them for a lifetime.
Luke and I have done projects and
created little parties for some time now,
so on THIS visit, together...
we threw
A MAD HATTER TEA PARTY!

The first assignment was to enjoy
our afternoon watching
Alice in Wonderland!
We wanted to refresh our memories
on the cast of characters!

Then it was a "Luke and Mom project" of setting the stage!

This was fun for "ME" watching the decorations
begin to appear throughout the house......

They make a good TEAM!

The Place Settings....
each adorned with a big chocolate bar!

Heirloom tea cups and my grandparents watches
added a perfect touch of wonder........

The Queen of Hearts.....
complete with Strawberry Marshmallows......

All tea parties must come with
TEA COOKIES!

"Vintage Alice" adorned the napkins......

Pretty drinking straws for tea and lemonade

Grandmother Estelle would have loved this......

The Cheshire Cat was Luke's favorite!

Luke and Miss M did a marvelous job
putting this together!

Luke could not control his laughter every time
he spoke of , "TwiddleDee and TwiddleDum!"

There's the CUTEST
Mad Hatter ever!

This is a grandchild indulging his
grandmother taking photos!

They hung signs all over nooks and crannies
showing the way to the party......

A signed copy from Maine Grandma
to add to his library......
another heirloom watch too!

Cupcakes....
with a key to my heart!

Our tea sandwiches....
Pimento Cheese, Pineapple Cream Cheese and Egg Salad...
cut in his favorite shape!

The Italian Pasta Salad

Whole Grain Chicken Fingers

Rainbow Chip Cupcakes

I hope they had as much fun as I had
at
Luke's Mad Hatter Party!

A sweet ending.....

This smile made it all worth while.......

Another treasured memory!

  3. What a fun, fun party, Betsy. There is nothing I love better than a kids' party. Your little Luke is a really cute little boy and I can tell he got right in the spirit. I have ALWAYS loved Alice In Wonderland from the first time I read it as a child. I used to create little 'scenes' out of paper/tin and such to try to recreate a bit of the book. xo Diana

    1. Thank you Diana...it was alot of fun for me and I know it's the last time I will be able to do a party like this for him...getting too grown up. But I know he had fun! I love, love, love that you shared your memory of creating scenes from the story as a child...how magical! I certainly am glad you stopped by today...have a lovely weekend!!

  6. I like to think...
this is one of those memories he will cherish without even knowing it right now perhaps. but someday when he's six feet tall... and he's with his bride in their own beautiful home...
he'll tell her in a quiet voice all about the day his texas grandma and his mother created a magical tea party. and he helped! they remember things like this.
and I love the way you included maine grandma in the party. that is special and so like you.
and is there anything cuter than a little boy in an oversized hat pressing down his wee ears!!!
unless of course it's the last picture of mae looking more like a soft benevolent queen than a cheshire cat!!! LOL! I know she came looking for cream! ♥

    1. Hi Connie. My grandchildren call me "Grandma"...Luke will refer to me as "Maine Grandma" as he was little when learning to talk...he defines both grandmothers by Maine or Ohio..it stuck and we love it! I love Nana also...I thank you for always taking time to visit! Warm hugs!
