APPLE STREUSEL LOAF

Do you love walking in the front door of your home
to the aroma of apples and cinnamon baking in the oven?
Then you will love this little loaf cake!


Just as a spring wreath welcomes 
family and guests into your home,
something homemade welcomes them into your kitchen!



APPLE STREUSEL LOAF
2 cups flour
1 T. baking powder
1/2 cup sugar, plus 2 T.
1/2 t. salt
1/2 cup butter
2 cups chopped peeled apples
1/2 t. lemon zest
1 egg
1/2 cup milk
1/2 t. cinnamon



Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
In a large bowl, stir together the flour, baking powder, salt and 1/2 cup sugar.
Cut in the butter until coarse crumbs form.
Reserve 1/2 cup of this mixture.
Stir in the apples and lemon zest into the remaining
flour~butter mixture.

In a small bowl mix the egg and milk until blended.
Add to the apple mixture and stir until moistened.
Pour batter into a greased loaf pan.
In a small bowl, stir the reserved flour~butter mixture, cinnamon
and remaining 2 T. sugar together.
Sprinkle over the batter.
Press down lightly.
Bake for 55-60 minutes.
Cool slightly before serving.

  5. Hmm...mmm...gosh that looks good. Because I didn't get myself going in time, we'll be having a late supper and we are both hungry. Believe me, the peanut butter and crackers are not going to quite be the same. Sounds easy enough, too. Will snag!

  7. I love desserts made with fruit! I can't eat sugar at all so I have to get creative but many times fruit is sweet enough and I don't have to worry about leaving the sugar out. Hugs!

  9. I tried to make this recipe Apple Streusel loaf and I couldn't find the amount of salt or milk to use so I just "guessed". Then I think I screwed up and forgot the egg because I was trying to figure the milk part!! Can you help me?

    1. HI Kathy...my apologies...I did indeed omit these two measuremens...which have now been added...1/2 t. salt and 1/2 cup milk...now you're good to go. Thank you so much for catching this....have a wonderful fall season!
