SPRING DESIGN OF A GREENHOUSE TERRARIUM

Hello Loves....yes, it's still raining...
Yes, it is rather cold too....a tad above freezing in fact!

I am not complaining however
because these February rains are going to
bring us beautiful fields of bluebonnets this spring!
The bluebonnets depend on early rains to grow
across the fields and interstates of Texas....
We are planning trips to Waco and Austin
in April and this just makes me super excited!
So, since it's been a cold and rain soaked week
at home, I am pulling together new Spring
looks for a fresh new vibe!

I am just amazed at the current new decorating trend
of Urban Farmhouse!
Thank you Chip and Joanna Gaines....who doesn't love this
darling duo!!!
This decor and style is growing rapidly
in the You Tube world and some are changing
their entire home into this rustic farmhouse look!
I love this style too, but in small doses....
I learned a long time ago, to be careful of
decorating trends...no need to change up your entire
home to be current....it will soon change to something else.
Besides, I love our family heirlooms way too much....
I love etched glass, crystals and glam!

I am ready for Spring!
I like to look around the house
and challenge myself to pull together an
idea that is swirling about for a new vignette.
I am incorporating a few new pieces
in with decor items I have had a long, long time.

THIS is my new greenhouse terrarium which is going to be the star
of the foyer table...I am over the moon in love with this!

My sister and I made terrariums years ago
which turned out beautifully.
This one is going to be for decorating purposes only.
I cannot wait to decorate this for fall and Christmas too!
Imagine the possibilities!

I am building the design around a rustic spring garden theme

I am going to use Traditional,
but with elements of French and English country.

Vintage Candlelight

Wrought Iron anything

Wood…natural, chipped or worn wood is a
 hallmark of farmhouse style.

I want to use organic and natural materials.
I am also using heirloom linens…more elegant and classic.....

to incorporate into a rustic farmhouse feel.....
It's a work in progress, so perhaps
I will add more natural elements such as moss
and small ferns...
I think the idea is to continue to create
and enjoy your finished design.

  1. Betsy, What a fun idea. I love the terrarium as the main building piece. I could see this getting changed up for seasons or holidays. Mae seems to be checking the bunny out. :) Blessings to you, stay warm. xoxo, Susie

    1. Thank you Susie...I am still playing around with the look..I need to live with it a few days to decide what it needs...do you ever do that? Hope your weather is better than ours at the moment...enjoy the weekend love!

  2. It is beautiful! I love the old chipping wood! It’s amazing how we love such old stuff and take pride in displaying our treasures. Many years ago, these same displays would have been embarrassing to many. I have an older cousin who doesn’t like any of this Farm House style. It reminds her of all the years when she struggled with poverty! She lives with her daughter who totally embraces antiques and a bit of rustic touches here and there. In our world today there is something for everyone! I love your style!

    1. This is so true Linda...everyone is different and has a unique way of decorating! You, my darling, are the best ever at creating warm and inviting spaces from all your thrift finds! I wish I had your gift for decorating! Thank you for such sweet comments! Warm hugs!

  3. OMGosh- I just LOVE that terrarium. What a fantastic piece. I do love Chip & Joanna but, like you, I know that what is HOT right now will be passe in the near future. You only have to look back at a few years in blogland to see what was HOT and has now fallen by the wayside. Just check out GoodWill to see what is not longer in favor. lol

I do what I like anymore and seldom go with the trends. That being said, I would arm wrestle you for that terrarium. lol xo Diana

    1. lol....Diana....your sweet comments made me laugh. This is so true...what is no longer current, goes to Goodwill...perfectly good items and clothing! But I rather like doing that so that someone else can enjoy it. I so love this piece....sometimes, things just speak to you and this certainly did. Thank you for visiting today and I wish you a good weekend!

  4. Haha oh, Mae! :)) Betsy, I love the terrarium. It is gorgeous. It reminds me of when I first brought home my little french country cupboard with the three little shelves. I had more fun dressing it up for every season. I already love your terrarium's spring look. Looking forward to watching it shine. Audrey is waving "hello" and wants you to know she is doing well. xo
