OUR FAVORITE RAISIN BREAD

THIS...... is the breakfast of champions!
Company's Comin'........
I like the way Miss Mary Bobo served her guests.
No wonder her southern recipes became an American tradition!

This bread is MARVELOUS toasted for your breakfast table!

Yum-OH!

If I were you, I would double the recipe and take one loaf to your sweet neighbor!

OUR FAVORITE RAISIN BREAD
~ Miss Mary Bobo's Boarding House Cookbook

1 cup raisins
1 t. baking soda
1/2 cup boiling water
1/2 cup Jack Daniels' Whiskey
1 1/2 cups flour
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 t. salt
1 egg, slightly beaten
1 T. vegetable oil

Grease a 9" x 3" x 3" loaf pan. In a small bowl, combine the raisins, baking soda, boiling water and Jack Daniel' whiskey. Set the bowl aside.

In a medium mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar and salt. Add the raisin mixture, egg, and oil and stir to blend. Pour the batter into the prepared pan. Bake at 350 degrees F. for  3-35 minutes. If you like, mix up about 2/3 cup confectioner's sugar, combined with a little cream to make a glaze. Drizzle over the warm bread. Just divine!!! Y'all enjoy!
