OLD FASHIONED CHERRY COBBLER AND THE ROMANCE OF TOILE

I rarely decorate for Valentine's Day!
In fact, after our daughter-in-law, Jenn, had decorated their foyer for this day of romance,
I thought about the fact that I really do not own much in way of the color red.
Now pink....oh yes, lots and lots of pink.

But then I thought, hey wait a minute....
I have red Transferware, which to me, is quite romantic!
And so the idea began to transform!
Candles are definitely required for a romantic Valentine's Day, right!
I decided to use my mother-in-law's crystal egg plate.
Lovely, isn't it?
Another treasured heirloom.

Then taking four burgundy colored candles, which I have had for years.....I mean years,
I selected old scrapbooking paper and wrapped them in romantic toile.
Each one in a different pattern.

I went to the ribbon drawer and lo and behold,
found one spool of burgundy and gold ribbon.

There we have it....all dressed up and glowing for valentine's day

Surrounded by chocolate kisses, I think they look revitalized and quite romantic!

I decided to display the few pieces I own of red Transferware,
on Mother's cherry wood tray.

Don't you love the romantic scenes on these lovely serving pieces?

I believe I bought this piece when I was shopping in Atlanta with the Divine Miss M

I think next week, I will add some greenery or faux hydrangeas to this vase

Valentine's Day would not be complete with a
Homemade Cherry Cobbler!

    1. How sweet of you to visit Estelle's Ms. Mori! Now, yes indeed, I will probably be forced to eat the entire cherry cobbler myself...not very romantic is it?

  4. I am so envious of your toile pottery! I have 28 yards of red toile waiting to be made into drapery panels for our new home. And, the cherry cobbler...well, one of my hubby's favorites and it will be on our menu soon. XOXO

  5. All lovely decorations. My daughter was born on Valentines Day so we always went all out on her birthday. It just so happens that Cherries in anything are her favorite.
The cobbler recipe sounds very good!

  6. Dear Estelle..YOU are on a roll! How sweet is that little centerpiece!! I'm such a copy cat that I might just try to copy it..however..I would have to buy, buy, buy and you had it all on hand.
I used to think of Valentines Day as just for lovers, romance etc. Not anymore. I think of it as a day to celebrate LOVE. Hey..when you get old you have to rationalize certain things and Valentines Day is one of them. :) Yes, and memories of course..lots and lots of memories. Of course this is from an old woman. :)_

    1. Hey Mona....feel free to copy anytime. You could make these rather cheaply if you needed to purchase any thing for the candles. That's what blogging does for us,,,inspires each one of us at one time or another If I could only garden like you do! And, hey, you are definitely a girl that is young at heart!!!
