The visit we enjoyed with The Divine Miss M
and our Luke the Duke was the BEST visit ever!
We were on the go from the moment their plane landed.....
This last post for July will highlight our good times
in the great state of Texas!
Did we eat, drink and make merry?
Indeed we did!
I made some homemade pita chips for a welcome home appetizer.....
These are so easy to make and I should make these more often.....
they went quickly......
We have often said we are going to have a guacamole cook-off contest
to see who makes it better.....Greg, Nick, Melissa or me?
Of course, we made a Target run first thing on a Friday morning....
we loaded up on goodies for Miss Abbie to ensure
she had plenty of snacks and beauty products to pack for college!
We swam in the pool everyday and of course,
these boys practiced their cannonballs, which I
will say, made Maine Grandma very, very nervous......
Now, our date night over in the Fort Worth Stockyards
was just the best ever.......from the time we became
Texans beginning in 1988, we have had a love affair
with beautiful Fort Worth......there is no place like it!
We have made beautiful memories here....my parents loved this place!!!!
Yes, my loves....you will see
AUTHENTIC COWBOYS riding their horses down the street....
you can usually catch the rodeo shows when you visit.
It was good to see the Stockyards brimming with families...
a thriving historic district of the beautiful city of Foat Wuth......
I adore the sights and smells of this place......
I have often said how lucky we are to have lived
in this area for so many years and raise the children here....
it's simply the best!
Miss M was extremly happy to be home....
she had an absolute ball!
We had dinner at our favorite BBQ spot before heading over
to BILLY BOB'S.....
We all missed Greg, Jenn and Robbie on this dinner...
There are only two places I embrace a cold beer....
the beach and Fort Worth....
and it sure tasted divine!
This was our first time to have a date night
with our Miss Abbie and her special guy, Brennan.
Brennan has completed his freshman year in college
in Iowa where he is on a baseball scholarship...both good, good kiddos!
We had a ball from the minute we walked in....
oh it was SO GOOD to be back here!
We have all enjoyed some festive evenings in this
honky tonk and enjoyed some great shows......
These two sure had a ball.......
The music, the dancing , the people, the rodeo next door...
it's a feast for the senses.....
Miss M purchased a baseball hat, complete with a bottle opener inside....
we got a good laugh our of that little surprise......
This is what it means to be a Texan, y'all!
They were doing their own line dance.....those girls......
looks like they were enjoying the moment!
Oh lawd....this was adorable......
it was just a great evening...
by the way, we were attending the concert presented
by Josh Weathers, who is a Burleson blues singer working for a cause......
Your
donations help us to provide food, caretakes, healthcare, education
and most
importantly allows us to show them the love of Christ.
We know this
vision was given to us by the
Holy Spirit and He will make a way!
Our Mission
We
believe love is an action not merely a spoken word. We believe in a form of
love that seeks nothing in return. By feeding the hungry, clothing the naked,
giving drink to the thirsty and loving the unloved, whether they be in the far
reaches of India and Africa or right here on our own home soil of the United
States, we are proving that love is alive!
There is no better place to curl up with an I-pad,
than Grandma's bed.....
Oh yes, a special Sunday morning breakfast of
Swedish Crepe's with Lingonberries and sausage!
We took a day to tour the Dallas Star
which is the stunning new practice facility of the
DALLAS COWBOYS!
We met for lunch and then walked over to the main facility
to begin a fantastic tour.....
We all enjoyed this inside view of the Cowboys
training facility and behind the scenes look at their franchise.
During Miss M's visit, Rob and his best friend Terrell
had taken off for a Bachelor party in Denver.
We were on our way to Love Field for a late morning flight.
There were a total of eleven guys enjoying the sights and sounds
of Denver, Colorado......
These two have been classmates and friends since they were four years old.....
We spent our last day shopping for fall goodies....
Now, it's time for back to school and a normal routine.....
We really packed a lot of TEXAS FUN into a few days!!!
Now, bring on the fall season!
Oh. how I love everything about this post! Such great photos documenting the wonderful time you all had together and the great memories you made together! I love Fort Worth, too! I grew up there and the Stockyards is part of my history. That was back when it was more 'rustic.' Loved seeing all the beautiful faces of your family. Good times!
ReplyDeleteBetsy, You have a good looking family. I know it was a fun time for all of you. So many smiling faces. What treat for Luke to see where the cowboys practice. Glad you had such a wonderful family gathering. Blessings to all, xoxo, Susie

ReplyDeleteYou’re all looking beautiful! So glad that you had this time with your darling girl. A mom can’t go too long without seeing a daughter or son in the flesh. Happy times for sure. π»
ReplyDeleteIt was so fun to see these pics of your gorgeous family having great times together. My sister lives in Euless, TX, and on one of our visits she took us to Fort Worth and it was wonderful. And, we ate dinner at Riscky's! That was DEElicious! Like you, my sister has said that she is so glad she lived and raised her children in that area of Texas.
