Hello Loves....
guess what is going on in the great state of Texas?
Triple digit heat....we range from 105 to 107 degrees every day...
day after day......I really do not remember summer
being this hot growing up!
So....we stay indoors...
we haven't even been in the pool with this heat!
But, we are enjoying ordinary life.....
The darling and I have ended up being patients of
the same wonderful Cardiologist and
we happened to have had follow-up appointments on the same morning.
So....as we love to do....we treat ourselves to an IHOP breakfast
right after the appointment.
We purchased a new living room set for our family room
and donated our old set to a charity.
I am so excited to receive the new set this week,
just in time for the visit from Miss M and Luke the Duke!!!!
Now, isn't she a beauty!!!!
I have wanted a new toaster oven for a few years
and finally found an amazing deal on QVC....
I AM TOTALLY IN LOVE......
This was my recent eBay find for the holidays....
I adore Jim Shore and have quite a few of his pieces...
this little Santa is smoking his pipe, which reminded me of Daddy...
so he will be the perfect addition to a Christmas vignette!
My house smells of fall on this hot July day.....
who says it has to be November to bake a pumpkin pie......
We have a date scheduled for the Texas A&M vs. OLE MISS
football game in November which I am over the moon excited for.....
Planning my game day outfit as we speak....
since the darling and I are Ole Miss Rebels and our
children at Texas Aggies...it's hard to take sides....
just looking foward to a weekend in College Station
and a good bourbon toddy!
Mae is a bit perplexed that the family room is empty,
so she is back to napping in her favorite living room chair...
she's a beauty isn't she?
So that's it for Estelle's friends....
just super hot, all is quiet and we are
making plans for fall!
That heat must be absolutely draining! I can't wait to see the new living room furniture. What kinds of things do you use your toaster oven for? I would probably just use my regular oven, but maybe I'm missing out. -Jenn
ReplyDeleteHi Jenn...there are so many uses for this countertop oven....you can keep things warm, bake cookies, bake a casserole, toast grilled cheese sandwiches, rise yeast dough and even rotisserie a chicken! I just love it.....I wish I had this when my children were younger, so they could use it for after school snacks!
DeleteI've heard from several of my other Texas blog friends about the horrible heat you have been experiencing. It is hot here but you have it so much worse. I'll bet you would welcome our 98* heat at this point. We are having rain all week according to the forecasts. I know we need it, but it would have to happen on my vacation week. Oh well.
ReplyDeleteI love the color of your toaster oven. So pretty! I have one and used to use it a lot until the kitchen was redone and now there is no place to put it. I'll have to see what I can do to get it up and going again. It is good for hot weather because it doesn't heat up the kitchen like a regular oven does.
I'm looking forward to fall too. Or at least some cooler weather.
Hi Kathy...rain would be lovely.....it's just summer in Texas and we trade for a rather mild winter....couldn't take all the cold and snow of the north....so, we just continue and are grateful for each day. Hope you are planning fun things for the fall season!
DeleteBetsy, A scoop of ice cream will make that pie summer food. LOL Those toaster ovens do not put out the heat that our conventional oven make. I knew it had been hot there, but triple digits is awful. I can't stand our high 80's here. It's summertime and we want to be outside. LOL. Blessings to all of you, xoxo, Susie
ReplyDeletep.s. I know you are going be loving your time with Miss M and Luke.
Hey Susie....it's a bit of struggle to keep the plants thriving...maybe cooler temps are close at hand...let's hope so...hugs from Texas!
Deletetheres a whole lot of goodness in this post! The pearls with the plaid,, oh I love that,, and that pie,, my my,, but the beautiful kitty makes my heart squeeze!
ReplyDeleteHI Laurie....so glad you visited today! I wish you a lovely week ahead.stay cool!
DeleteHope that cooler days arrive before fall does. You need opportunities to enjoy the pool. I am awaiting the Emeril Legasse air fryer from QVC. Am hoping that I might begin making myself meals again if it’s easy enough. π Miss Mae is not only beautiful, she is stunning. Her coat is amazing.
ReplyDeleteHow exciting Vee....I have found great You Tube videos on the use of an Air Fryer....best of luck and enjoy using it! Thank you for such lovely comments on our dear Mae...she is my heart!!! Hugs from HOT TEXAS!
DeleteHi, It's hot here in Arkansas, too. Thankfully, we live on the Little Red River -- lots of shade and just looking at the water has a cooling affect. I am so ready for fall and football. Love Ole Miss. Always root for them unless they are playing the Hogs!
ReplyDeleteHey Claire! We have young friends at the University of Arkansas...great school! I would love to live near the water....sounds delightful! Thank you for dropping by today...enjoy the rest of your summer! HOTTY TODDY!
DeleteI love your new toaster oven. We use ours a lot! Saves turning on the big oven. Enjoy your afternoon!
ReplyDeleteHow good to know.....let me know your favorite use of your oven....just a real gem! Have a lovely week!
DeleteHOTTY TODDY...GOSH ALMIGHTY...WHO THE HELL ARE WE????
Deleteahem...being an LSU alum, I am quite familiar with those Rebels AND Aggies.....we should make a lil wager this season!!!
My car registered 110 degrees today....really???.....I am DONE with summer. DONE I tell ya!!!
Can't wait to see your new room!!!!!
Hi Janey....GEAUX TIGERS!!! My sister is an LSU Alum and I LOVE LSU! I often went to spend weekends with her on campus and we had such fun!!! Beautiful campus and those football games were amazing! My husband and I went to OLE MISS with Archie Manning which were some real glory days! Can't wait to see what you've been up to! Warm hugs!
DeleteHi Ms. Estelle, you talk about triple digit in Texas, wow here in California today we're also 107, and in a couple of days we'll be having a heat wave! that hits 110 to 115, who cares at that point hot is hot! trying to stay cool. when my AC goes on I thank the good Lord I live in this era of AC-Lol....how did all those people in early 1900's do it! God Bless them
ReplyDeleteHi Dolores...it seems to be a tad extreme this summer doesn't it? I do see that CA has some cooler temps near SF, which amazes me! I wonder too, the days of my grandparents and how they managed on hot days? Hope you are enjoying the summer however!
DeleteI remember an unusual summer here where we had 3 solid months and more, of 90+ degree weather. I rarely went outside. I just went from a/c house to a/c car to a/c store! I hope you all get a break in the heat soon!
ReplyDeleteIt was wonderful living in Maine when the summer rolled in, but we could sit on the deck with a light jaket on....sees so odd now. Hope you are enjoying the summer Deanna...and having fun times with your family...warm hugs!
Deletea wonderful uplifting post as always!
ReplyDeleteand Miss Mae. well.
it just doesn't get any more gorgeous than that beloved one!
she's the super model of Kittydom! xoxo
You are so sweet Tammy....Mae loves and appreciates all her fans...lol...warm hugs for visiting today!
DeleteYou have the heat and we are having weeks of unprecidented summer rain. Today is the 9th day of rain and the weather man said there is another week to go. The ground is so wet if you walk in the grass water comes over your toes.
ReplyDeleteStay cool!
I love your football outfit! And your cute cat.
