EASTER INSPIRATION

I always bring out some favorite heirlooms at Easter time.
As I have stated in previous posts
our tradition was to go home to Jackson for Easter
and have the children hunt for Easter eggs at my parents
and also the darling's parents.
Now that they have all passed away, those beautiful times
are held in our memories.
By using beautiful items that belonged to Mother
and Grandmother, it honors their memory!

Don't you love the soft pastels during the Easter season?

This little lamb belonged to Mother and the tiny little pitcher
was Grandmother Estelle's......as was the onion plate.

Mae Mobley has quite a collection of "bunnies" going on.....
Ah...remembering the days that were simple and sweet
with wonderful parents...

  1. What a sweet post. Wonderful memories like that can carry such emotion. We have similar ones of travelling to the in-laws for the weekend with three anxious kids excited for the egg-hunt on their acreage and Easter dinner with everyone. Memories they cherish today. As do I. My mom would visit us before we left with an arm full of Easter baskets and enjoy a dinner at our home. They are all missed beyond words. I love the little lamb that once belonged to your mom. What a treasure. :)

As always, I love to see Miss Mae included in the photos. Will you be hosting Easter at your home this year? No matter where you are for Easter, I look forward to seeing your photos. :)

    2. Absolutely - each of your posts make me smile. :) My older daughter will be hosting Easter at her home, and the rest of us will each be contributing a dish or two. It will be nice for the boys to be at home for their Easter egg hunt and to play with their Easter basket goodies. I think my daughter and grandsons will be coming to my house to color eggs on the Friday or Saturday prior to Easter. We did that last year, and it's so much fun to be doing these traditions with them just as I did with their mommy so many years ago. Hugs back to you Betsy!

  7. I am so glad you have those things that tie you back to your roots/family. When my mother was a little girl their family home burned to the ground and her parents had no money to speak of and barely eked a living out of the land. Someone brought my mother a tiny little Peter Rabbit tin (which will be on my blog later this week). In it was a celluloid green toy watch and a red and cream colored celluloid comb and a little pair of magnetized dogs that 'turned away' from each other. She kept all those treasures in that little tin and it was on a shelf over the kitchen sink for my whole life. I just gave it to my daughter to pass it along to her daughter someday. I think it was a real treasure to my mother. It was one of the few things I got from the farm. xo Diana
