BLOGGER CHANGES ARE COMING

Do you have a Google account?

Changes are upon us....

"We’ll be making some changes that will eventually require readers
to have a Google Account to sign into Friend Connect and follow blogs."

"Starting the week of January 11,
we’ll remove the ability for people with Twitter, Yahoo, Orkut
or other OpenId providers to sign in to
Google Friend Connect and follow blogs.
At the same time, we’ll remove non-Google Account profiles
so you may see a decrease in your blog follower count."

"If they use a non-Google Account to follow your blog,
they need to sign up for a Google Account,
and
re-follow your blog, with a Google Account."

I have had no problems with Google so I know they are simply
streamlining their business.
Change can be a good thing.....

The news from Blogger can be read in it's entire format here

http://buzz.blogger.com/2015/12/an-update-on-google-friend-connect.html

I like to think of you as FRIENDS,
not followers...
If you prefer not to sign up for a Google account,
you will not miss a post on any blog you enjoy
if you follow by e-mail.....

This is just too technical for me....
Please figure this out so I can still visit Jack the Cat....

  1. Yes, the changes are here this week and even before. I posted a few times to share about this too. While I did lose all my reading list, it seemed to copy to bloglovin. Not sure how that happened but I still have a way to find friends. Love your sweet pics. Have a great day!! Blessings xo

    1. Hi Celeste! I have not seen any changes as of yet, but it is always good to be "in the know!" So happy you stopped by today and I hope you are enjoying your new start to 2016. Blessings to you also!

  2. Thank you!

I have a Google account. One has to, to have a Google Blogger blog. Yes?

I "follow" by a private list of blogs. Not Friend Connect, or any other 'way.' It does not show "new" posts. I follow so few, that I simply click on them, to see if they have a new post.

I know, this is not a choice, for anyone else. :-) But I am cool, with it.

Not being techy, I can only figure, that people using other than Blogger, will lose touch with we blogger blogs. Yes? No? Maybe?

So all we blogger people, who have blogs from Word Press, etc., etc., reading us..... Need to announce this 'new thing', on our blogs. As you have done.

If it isn't one thing, it's another. Grumble, grumble, grumble. ,-))))

    1. I have been very satisfied with google...I would probably not be a fan of Wordpress. We shall see what changes occur and hope for the best! Yes....grumble, grumble...some days are just like that!

  3. This change sounds negative. Please follow my blog using bloglovin.com which I find works great. I also added a button on my blog to allow follow by email.

  4. Thank you Betsy for the information. My Google Friend Connect button has had problems since I began my blog a little over a year ago. Folks can't use their GFC button on my blog to follow whether they have a Google account or not. So I put a little instruction piece above GFC to show folks how to follow. I had heard that GFC was going to be eliminated. Other than that, I have no problem with Google.
I love the photos of Mae Mobley and Jack...so sweet! ♥

  6. Hopefully, it will all work out. I was sad to lose so many friends all in one day. Cut the way you have Miss Mae Mobley featured in this post. =D

  7. Your sweet kitty is so cute and I like seeing Jack in the photo with her, too. I had a few followers drop off and thought it was because I've been away from the computer quite a bit lately, but guess it was due to the changes they are making. I don't know why they always have to do these things. If it ain't broke, don't try to fix it! :)

  8. Hi Betsy! I have heard of this but wasn't too worried because I do have a Google account. I'm like you, I consider my followers as friends! I'm tickled seeing your little kitty looking at Susan Branch's Jack! What a hoot! Thanks for popping in to see me and have a great week, well it's almost over now! ;)
    Be a sweetie,
    Shelia :)
