This is a very old-fashioned recipe!
How about a chocolate gravy over hot buttery rolls?
I know......divine isn't it?
CHOCOLATE
BUTTER ROLLS
1
1/2 cups of Pioneer Baking Mix
1/2
cup of milk
1
cup sugar
1
1/2 T. cocoa powder
1/4 cup chopped pecans
1/4 cup chopped pecans
2
T. butter, melted
Boiling
water
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Mix Pioneer Baking Mix and milk in a bowl until it forms a dough. Roll out onto a floured surface and knead 3-4 times. Next, roll out dough into a large rectangle. In a separate bowl, mix sugar and cocoa powder with enough butter to form a paste. Smear chocolate paste mixture onto the rolled out dough.Sprinkle with chopped pecans. Roll dough like you would a Jelly Roll and cut into 1 inch pieces.
In a greased pie plate, or baking dish, place chocolate rolls. Cover rolls, nearly to the top edge, with boiling water. Bake for 20-30 minutes.
Okay- First I am assuming I can use Bisquick....BUT---are you saying to pour boiling water right INTO the pan of rolls OR do you mean to sink the dish into a water full of hot water? I know---dumb blond here. I am thinking of making these this weekend! xo Diana
ReplyDeleteLOL...of course you can use Bisquick Diana! Yes, once you arrange the rolls in a baking pan, pour the hot water directly over the dough. This is what forms a gravy. Once they are finished baking, you can either invert the biscuits onto a serving platter, (making sure it's got a dip rim) or just serve them from the pan.
