No other dessert harkens us back to childhood
and all those sweet memories, as does a pie.
It can be served simple and unadorned, or piled high with fruit and cream.....
we all love them!
The Banana Cream Pie is so much a southern favorite,
that you are probably standing at the head of the line to get your slice.....
Y'all enjoy!

In a medium saucepan, combine sugar, flour and salt. Gradually stir in the milk. Cook and stir over medium heat, stirring constantly until bubbly. Cook for 2 minutes. Remove from heat.
Stir a small amount of the custard into the egg yolks. This serves to temper the yolks. Return this mixture into the hot custard and continue to cook over medium heat for 2 minutes.
Remove from heat and add in butter and vanilla. Pour into the cooled pie shell over 3 sliced bananas. I sprinkle the bananas with a spritz of lemon juice to keep from browning. Top with whipped cream and shaved chocolate!
