Penne al Forno....and The Broken Blog

Well....since Blogger is experiencing problems in uploading images, it puts some of us "on hold!" We have been busy putting away all of the holiday decorations for about the past week. Mae is always willing to "lend a paw" with the ornaments. It's just the worst of chores to take care of in my opinion! So, until we are back in the blog business, relax and take in a movie or read a good book....start your walking program if you live in an area where there is no snow! Today's recipe is a good, easy pasta dish to serve of a cold winter's night.

Penne al Forno
3/4 lb dried penne
2 T butter
3 T flour
2 cups milk, room temperature
1-1/2 cups grated Gruyére cheese
1 cup grated cheddar cheese
1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
1 t. salt
Freshly ground black pepper

Preheat oven to 400°F.
Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the penne and cook according to the package directions. Drain the penne and set aside.

While the penne is cooking, heat a 12'' nonstick skillet over medium heat. Melt the butter and add the flour. Whisk, cooking for 2 minutes. Whisk in the milk, stirring constantly to avoid lumps. Stirring regularly, bring the sauce to a boil. Once it has boiled and thickened, remove the pan from heat and stir in the grated cheeses, salt, and pepper.

Add the penne and any other ingredients you might like in your pasta to the skillet. Bake in a 400°F oven until the top is just starting to brown, about 15 minutes.

  1. Blogger doesn't like me either...I'm a bit lost not being able to upload any photos.
