OCTOBER ENDS WITH RAIN. WND AND COLD..LET'S STAY HOME

The month of October seems to have gone by
so quickly this year....
I cannot say the weather has felt like
those perfect autumn days, but...
you can actually feel cooler afternoons....
it is such a pleasant sight to see the leaves
begin to fall.....

I only purchased one pumpkin this year and have
really enjoyed seeing it every day while
spending time by the pool...

And, I have so enjoyed my velvet pumpkins this year....
I think the blue ones are my all time favorites...

Now, this was a rare find....
this darling hand carved Pilgrim couple
which I found on Etsy

Strong storms were moving in on this Friday night,
so it was the perfect time to make Mother's chili...

Perfectly adorned with a dollop of sour cream and cheddar

I love this plate...and, I miss PIER ONE.....
the fact that they no longer exist makes
me treasure the plates I have all the more

A sweet ending of Carrot Cake with a lemon glaze

I am transitioning into Thanksgiving
and these are the linens I will be using

I love this neutral look as a compliment to my
woodland Thanksgiving china

I plan to treasure the days of November....

We will be hosting the Atlanta family this year and am so
looking forward to this...

These have been wonderful days,,,
Autumn is such a short season and
how wonderful to reflect and remember

  1. We drove to the ranch in the rain yesterday and Louis Dean got soaking wet opening and closing the gates. He came in and made a pot of coffee, changed his clothes and turned on the Dearborn heater because he was so COLD! Warmed up here today but will be 38 degrees one night this week! I will be looking forward to your November posts!

  2. Betsy, I loved seeing your chili. It's a bit different than most. When I make bean soup, I use four to five different type of beans and I call it, "Not Your Momma's Beans. " When I took it to a carry in dinner it a hit. Blessings to you pretty lady, enjoy your family. xoxo, Susie

  3. I really miss Pier 1 too. It was one of my favorites. Love your light blue velvet pumpkins. I have a dark blue velvet pumpkin that I bring out every year. Your chili looks incredibly good. Sounds perfect for the cold days that are coming. I love your orange pumpkin. It's the perfect size and shape. And as always, the paintings you share at the end are so delightful.

  5. Here it is the last day of October and our weather is blustery and cold, but sunny! October flew by this year. I have a feeling the rest of the year will be the same.
I need to think about Thanksgiving. We are having a few extra guests this year - two Vietnam vets. I want to make sure everything is special.
