LADY BIRD'S recipe made this casserole well loved and famous!
This casserole has been made and shared for hundreds of occasions
from church potlucks to funeral food gifts and all sorts of family gatherings......
Her recipe has been published in newspapers across the country and
has proven itself to be a family favorite....it's comfort food at it's finest.....
I served this with a side of hot rice and garnishes of
cherry tomatoes, olives, scallions and fresh cilantro.....
THIS, my darlings. will soon be on your list of family's most requested dinners!
This recipe card is a copy from the LBJ Library.....
For the Longhorn cheese, I used both Monterey Jack and Sharp Cheddar.
I have never made it, but this recipe looks scrumptious. I'll be giving it a try. Thank you for sharing it.
ReplyDeleteI've heard of this dish for years but never tried it. Sounds delicious - thanks for sharing. Think I'll try it next time I'm in a cooking mood. Lately we've been in an 'eat out / take-out' mood. Cracker Barrel is currently running a $6 to-go special when you order an entrée. Brought home several of their meatloaf with mac & cheese dinners for when I just don't feel like cooking. Have a great weekend.
ReplyDeleteThank you for this recipe! I have a friend - her name is Linda Chapman and she is from Canada - coming to visit in June. I will be making this recipe during her visit! I can always count on you for good menu ideas!
