PILE ON THE HEIRLOOMS FOR FALL

Do you ever come across a photo in a magazine
that all of a sudden inspires you to create something similiar?
I was very drawn to this vignette when I saw it...
the colors, the quietness it seemed to evoke...
a very simplistic arrangement.

And.....just for fun...
I pulled together some similar elements to create my own....

I love our Canadian goose....
he stays on display in the darling's office bookcase.
He was the first element I chose based on the magazine photo.
I then chose elements of pewter....
Mother's little tea set she purchased in Canada.
If you will notice in the photo,
there is a small pewter floral vase behind the pumpkins.

I bought this floral arrangement when we lived in Dothan
and to me, it had all the rustic subdued shades of fall.

I adore cow prints, but this type of rustic artwork, does not really
match our decor....BUT...
a smaller framed watercolor worked beautifully with this vignette.
It showcases the soft golden color of an autumn afternoon
and the sweet calf's you can just picture in a Texas pasture.

The table runner is actually
one of my autumn wraps.....

I just love how it softens the room.

“The leaves fall, the wind blows,
 and
the farm country slowly changes
from the summer cottons into its winter wools.”

  6. That looks really great! Being inspired by a picture in a magazine is a fantastic way to come up with new décor in your home. My sister, who has a wonderful sense of home style and real flare, is often inspired by decorating magazines. -Jenn

  8. This is a lovely vignette, Betsy! I like your Canadian goose, although I'm not fond of the live ones. ;) They're aggressive, hateful, messy birds, but they're beautiful when they fly in formation across the sky. I love your inherited pewter tea set; it's just beautiful. Your hound's tooth wrap looks perfect on the table, and the cow picture is charming. :-D I like your lamp much better than the ones in the magazine picture.

Thanks for sharing, Betsy; hope you have a great weekend!

    Hugs,
