STRAWBERRY AND CUSTARD CREPES WITH NUTELLA

The family dinner....
the ties that bind!

Yes....that's the family!
It's the most fun ever when we plan
a big family dinner on our beach vacations!
Each night, we take a turn at planning, shopping, cooking
and serving that night's dinner!
We have more fun doing this, than going to
local restaurants. We plan one night out of our week
to have a big night out, otherwise we spend
the entire day beachside, then relax for the cocktail hour
and we never have to worry about dressing up and going out!
These dinners are so memorable!

There is one dessert that is a show stopper
for these type of ocean side dinners
and that is crepes with custard and berries.
It is a rather elegant sweet ending and one
that is often requested...

Just mix up a basic crepe recipe...

1 cup all-purpose flour
2 eggs
1/2 cup milk
1/2 cup water
1/4 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons butter, melted

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour and the eggs. Gradually add in the milk and water, stirring to combine. Add the salt and butter; beat until smooth.

Heat a lightly oiled griddle or frying pan over medium high heat. Pour or scoop the batter onto the griddle, using approximately 1/4 cup for each crepe. Tilt the pan with a circular motion so that the batter coats the surface evenly.
Cook the crepe for about 2 minutes, until the bottom is light brown. Loosen with a spatula, turn and cook the other side. Serve warm or at room temperature.

It takes just a little time
and
everyone absolutely loves the combination!

  5. Perfecto!! Our whole family leaves next week for the beaches of Florida too!! How fun would it be if we were there the same time yall are....your kids are exactly the same age as mine!!
And I'm in my recipes tonight trying to decide which desserts I want to make. We do as you do....each daughter in law plans a meal for a night. Which leaves 4 more nights and I do those. After last yrs devastating nights out at restaurants...long waiting lines with 5 baby grandchildren does not make for happy yaya and cap'n!!....we decided to eat in every night. We have a glorious house rented with a dining table that seats 20. That will be a party in itself each night. So I've been cooking all week long and making just about everything imaginable. Dessert is my last job. Definitely will be your crepes one night...they look AWESOME!!! That apple cake may get made too!!!
