ESTELLE'S APPLE BREAD WITH ORANGE CREAM CHEESE

Coming home means your family knows there is going to be delicious homemade food being served from your kitchen. But they also realize that coming home is more than just a place to eat. They come home because you have created a warm, cozy environment filled with laughter and they feel loved.

ESTELLE’S APPLE BREAD
1 cup sugar
½ cup butter, softened
2 eggs
2 tablespoons sour cream
2 cups flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla
2 cups apples, peeled and finely chopped

 The Topping
4 tablespoons butter
4 tablespoons sugar
4 tablespoons flour
2 tsp. cinnamon

 Making the Best Apple Bread:

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

In a large mixing bowl, cream together the sugar and butter, blend in the eggs and sour cream. Add the flour, soda and salt, mix just well enough to incorporate. Mix in the vanilla. Stir in the apples. Spread the batter in the bottom of a greased loaf pan.

In a small mixing bowl, stir together the topping ingredients with a fork. Sprinkle the mixture evenly over the bread batter. Bake for 45- 55 until done.

Orange Cream Cheese
4 ounces cream cheese, softened
1 tablespoon granulated sugar
1 teaspoon grated orange peel
1 teaspoon orange juice

Mix together cream cheese, sugar, orange peel and orange juice in medium bowl until well blended.

    1. Texas weather is all over the map these days Mona. We have had one week of really cold temps with snow and ice, then in the 70's right after that! This apple bread is so easy and really good. I added chopped pecans to mine even though the recipe does not call for them. Please enjoy and as always, I thank you for stopping by!
