NO SEW DIY FALL PILLOW

I don't know about you, but I begin thinking of fall
and all the beautiful home decor probably mid-summer.
This is my second DIY project for fall and I am in love with it!
I found this beautiful watercolor bird print some time ago,
and have just been obsessed with it!
Lo and behold, I found it by some miracle and did my first project
using this gorgeous print...a no sew fall pillow!

I already had a pillow that I could use to recover
and simply made a pattern adding about 2 inches on each side for a hem.
I then used hemming tape to secure each edge.

I am just loving it...
when fall rolls around this will be on display
with a hunter green autumn throw....
My next project is to create a lampshade
using this material.

Are you looking forward to fall as much as I am?
Perhaps not quite yet...we still have a month of summer
left and a weeks vacation to enjoy!
What DIY project have you done recently?
I would love, love, love to hear about it!

  1. Love the pillow and the bird print. You bet I'm looking forward to fall! Unfortunately it won't arrive until October. All the catalogs have fall decor. I've gotten as far as thinking about crocheting pumpkins. I seem to be spending all my energy staying cool!

  3. The only thing I have done for Fall is get my tubs ready to start right after Labor Day. I like to leave it up from September into a week before Thanksgiving. Then I take it down and put up my Christmas decorations. Since I just turned 82 last week, I just don't have the energy to decorate as much as I used to.

I will be down sizing both Fall and Christmas.

Enjoy your week. Love the pillow - the fabric is lovely.

I can't even think of a project with this crazy crazy summer around here. Next week, I'm keeping grandkids for the week while my oldest and his bride go to mexico....wha???....what about a vacation for YaYa??!!!
Got it covered...I leave mid september with my bestie from WA state for Santa Fe!!! No children or husbands invited!!! Do you hear the word SPA in there!!! Staying at the cutest boutique hotel (kelly ripa) stayed there few weeks so you know it's gotta be cute!!!
Sigh.....counting down the days. IF I make it thru this week!!!!!

    1. You stay so very busy Janey...I doubt hemming tape would stand up to much use...my family has known for years, never to sit on the pillows....it's a well known fact around here. Have a wonderful time on your vacation.

  5. That bird fabric is fabulous. I must ask, what is hemming tape and is it easy to use? No sew sounds good to me.

    1. Hi Terra...this is a self-adhesive bonding tape that is ironed on to the fabric..marvelous if you do not have a sewing machine. It worked beautifully on this project. Let me know if you try it!
