ALL ABOUT MAE

I decided to do a post today providing an update on our
MAE MOBLEY.
One of Estelle's lovely and dear readers asked about her today
and
I am so thankful and appreciative that she asked about her health
and well being.....
THANK YOU BLANCHE.....

Mae turned SEVEN on April 1st, 2017!!

My posts about Mae also help me keep a journal of sorts
on her progress over time.

MAE IS DOING GREAT,
we are happy to report.

Miss Mae continues to be seizure free.
When her dosage of Zonisamide was reduced
from 75 mg. back to 50 mg. on April 1st, 2017.
we noticed how much more energy she had...
back to playing with her toys and her babies.
We do still struggle sometimes in giving her
'the pill' every morning, and she is not a happy
camper with that, but most mornings it
goes without a hitch.

On May 1st, we are changing her
from the capsule form of her medication
to a compound chewie form.
And, yes, we are a bit nervous about that.
The cost goes from $12 for a one month supply of
her capsules, to $65 for a 50 day supply of compound chewies.
However, if this alleviates her anxiety in addition to ours,
it is money well spent.

We have also noticed her appetite has improved and pretty much
back to normal....she had lost two pounds so I believe she may
have gained it back by now....

"Well, isn't THAT the cat's meow....that you
are talking about my weight.....in addition
to taking a photo of me at this unflattering angle!!!"
~Mae Mobley

That's our girl.....
in all her beautiful glory!

It is important to note, that we do not know
what caused the horrible week of seizures
back in late November and December.
The neurologist continues to stress
they do not know what causes eplieptic seizures in dogs and cats.
However, I no longer use any scents or sprays,
nor do I burn candles, based on a comment
I had received from a lovely reader of mine.

We continue to thank you SO MUCH
for your concern and continued prayers
for her well being!

  7. Betsy, I often wonder about cleaning products. I feel some things are just not good for pets to be around for extended periods. You know like rinsing and rinsing their food and water dishes. Plus some of the pet foods are from china...I would buy those. Glad your pretty cat is doing well and so loved by you. Blessings, xoxo, Susie

    1. Oh Susie..never buy pet food from China....she has been on a natural grain free kibble from a kitten. Her food dishes are steam cleaned in the dishwasher....I have turned to natural organic cleaning products also. We try everything we know to keep her seizure free...thank you for your sweet words on Mae...so appreciated...have a lovely weekend.

  9. Oh so HAPPY to hear about sweet "little" Ms. Mae!!! So happy she's doing to great!!!! Giving cats a pill is so fun! Ha! Mine can even dig the pill out of the "pill pocket" and eat just the little treat. He also stored tiny, tiny, pills in his cheeks and spit them out later all over the house! They ARE worth it!!!! xoxoxoxoxoxo

  12. I'm so happy to hear that Miss Mae is doing so well! I had a toy poodle whom had seizures for about the last 4-5 of her 15 years. It was really quite upsetting. I, too, struggle trying to get pills down my current toy poodle, Willie. They don't make it easy, do they??!! Just curious - how did you come up with the name, Mae Mobley? Such a sweet name!

  14. MY kitty with lymphoma is on 3 compounded meds in chicken flavored chews. He will not take pills or liquids. It's very expensive especially with the overnight shipping added too. But he's doing so well after almost 2 years, that it's worth every penny. He thinks he's getting yummy treats. So happy Mae is seizure free; she's a beauty.
