A DIVINE HOLIDAY DESSERT...LEMON LOVE and SNIPPETS OF CHRISTMAS CHEER !

I knew when I saw the recipe from PLAIN CHICKEN
that I was going to have to try it!
What do you end up with when
you combine Chess Pie with Cheesecake?
Heaven.....the best the South offers!
If you are looking forward to
adding a special sweet ending to
your holiday table, then you will probably love this one!

Lemon Chess Cheesecake Pie
1 (9-inch) deep dish frozen pie crust
1 (8 oz) package cream cheese, softened
1-1/4 cup sugar, divided
3 eggs, divided
2 T. butter, melted
2 T. milk
2 t. grated lemon rind
2 T.  fresh lemon juice
11/2 t. all-purpose flour
11/2 t. cornstarch
1/8 t. salt

Preheat oven to 350ºF.

Beat together cream cheese, 1/4 cup sugar, and 1 egg at low speed of an electric mixer until smooth. Spread cream cheese mixture in bottom of pie crust.

Whisk together 1 cup sugar, 2 eggs, butter, milk, lemon rind, lemon juice, flour, cornstarch and salt. Pour over cream cheese mixture.

Bake for 35 to 40 minutes, until set. Remove from oven and cool completely on wire rack.

Refrigerate until ready to serve.
Estelle's Sweet Tip~
I sprinkled nutmeg on top
before baking....all
Chess pies need nutmeg!
Then dusted with powdered sugar
when cooled.

Here is the original recipe from
Plain Chicken

The doggie presents arrived from Atlanta...
but, SOMEONE saw them first!
Merry, Merry!

Miss M spent the morning making
Cranberry Bread for the sweet friends on her list
who help out daily with Luke and school.
What a festive gift from the heart!

Luke's school bus driver, teachers and coaches to name a few!

Festive Candy Canes.....

Do you love Danish Butter cookies...
We certainly do!

Even store bought cookies are divine.....

My little winter snowman and ice tree arrived just in
time for Christmas!

How darling!
I love little Charlie Brown trees, don't you?

SNOWMEN!
I think I love them......

My sweet Sister-in-Law
sent us some delicious Mississippi favorites
for our Christmas Eve buffet!
This made me homesick......

Mae continues to do well.
I say nightly prayers for her
and
for all those who are in need of a prayer.
I am so very blessed to have
YOU as a blogging friend!
I am grateful our paths have crossed.
I hope the true meaning of Christmas Day
is in your heart
and
that you enjoy each moment of Christmas.
The family is scheduled to arrive
and
the baking has begun.
Stay warm, Stay happy and Be Kind!
Merry Christmas Loves!

  1. I do love that tree and it just goes so well with the snowman. Mae is loving those toys. LOL Everyone who receives a gift of homemade bread form your daughter is going to love it. It's looking very much like Christmas there. Blessings to you dear Betsy. I have enjoyed being part of your blogging family. xoxo, Susie

  2. The family will soon arrive...more exciting words have never been spoken. Your home is Christmas ready, your heart is full, and yay for Miss Mae doing well! She loves Christmas, too. It is obvious from her expression. =D

  3. Everything looks lovely! I'm so happy your Mae is doing better! Our Shiner has improved greatly and is not in near as much pain as he was. He is now a clearly elderly dog but we are hoping for a few more years. He's the white lab and Jersey, the black lab, has been so tender and careful with him. She will lay by his side with a leg around his shoulder like she's hugging him. Touches my heart!

Now for that Christmas Pue! Thank you, once again, for another recipe! I'm making pumpkin pie and wanted one more but thought it would be pecan. You changed my mind! Louis Dean will LOVE this!

Merry Christmas to you and yours!

  4. Betsy, have a very Merry Christmas and many blessings for the New Year! Many prayers have gone Miss Mae's way! I work part time at a clinic and we have had an influx of animals with seizures these past months. Around here it starts as soon as the candles start coming out in the fall, their scents can be made with highly toxic fragrances. Miss Mae is so lucky to have all of you looking after her. Your blog continues to be one of my favorites, everything to elegant as always. Hugs your way, Patti

    1. Patti...thank you so very much for your prayers for Mae. I appreciate your knowledge of candle scents triggering seizuers, which we had no idea about. Yes, I burned candles in the fall. I am now stopping all candle burning. We continue to pray for our girl. May GOD bless you and those you love with a lovely Christmas Day!

  7. I seriously think mae mobley just might be the most beautiful kitty in the whole world.
that face. and such luxurious fur.

just got back from georgia. my brother's son... master sgt mike... who actually feels more like my own son... is stationed there. he was deployed in the war zones of the middle east last Christmas so this one was very special. his next deployment is in april. he is air force special operations. we only got to stay until the 22nd. but how wonderful was that trip!
ISIS is always 'the mission.' so having a peaceful beautiful Christmas at home ... nothing like it!

patti's comment above has helped me as well! for years scented candles have made me feel AWFUL!
no seizures thank goodness... but just unwell. and my nose all stopped up and eyes watering and burning.
i'm glad to know it's not just all in my head... or that i'm not just being a GRINCH! LOL!
pier one makes some beautiful LED lighted candles that even flicker like real flames. that's my go~to now.

have a joyous and beautiful Christmas darling girl. thank you for your enchanting blog! XOXO♥
