RAINY DAYS, AUTUMN VELVET AND HOME COOKING!

We are watching the rain.....finally!
You know Texas.....it's feast or famine regarding the weather!
We had SO much rain in a short amount of time,
that many areas, especially those towns down in the western
part of the state, experienced flooding!
So what was meant to be a Friday night homecoming
was postponed to Saturday.

Our youngest was traveling up from Austin,
but watching the weather updates carefully
showed that the interstate was closed due to flooding.
It's always a worry when traveling at night, especially in the rain.
So, Saturday morning it was...
I was getting the welcome home reception ready
in the meantime!

How about an Autumn Velvet Cake!

Chocolate Velvet, paired with Orange Velvet
and
topped with a little Cream Cheese Icing

I love finding seasonal baking mixes, don't you?

This would probably make adorable Halloween cupcakes too!

Celebrating fall........

A festive sweet ending was planned....
but first..
it's always wonderful on a rainy autumn day
to walk into your home
and smell a big pot of soup bubbling away...

My homemade Minestrone Soup
and
Black Forest Ham, Smoked Turkey, Salami and Swiss Cheese Subs!

The visits are always too short,
but
we still make the most of our time!

  5. I've seen that cake mix! Now I need to get one!
Yes, that rain really impacted our lives! My son in law had to find a hotel down by Waco that Friday night! It was Baylor's homecoming so he had to turn around and go back down south an hour or so to find a room!
More rain coming in Thursday night! Louis Dean is working on the great sump pump project! Hope he gets it done in time!
