COTTAGE CHEESE JELLO SALAD..A SOUTHERN CLASSIC

This my darlings, is a Southern Classic!
You can find this salad or dessert, if you prefer,
on any southern sideboard this side of the Mason-Dixon line!
It would be the first to go at the ladies luncheon, summer soirees
and yes, even at funerals!
The great little thing about this yummy bit of fluffiness is
that you can make it any flavor you wish!
Mother always added mini-marshmallows to hers...
Learn this by heart lovies....
all good southern belles know how to make
the classic Cottage Cheese and Jello Salad!

VINTAGE COTTAGE CHEESE JELLO SALAD
8-10 ounces of cottage cheese
1 carton of whipped topping
1 small package of jello (Lime, Orange or Strawberry)
1 large can of crushed pineapple, drained
1 -2 cans of Mandarin Oranges, drained

Mix together the cottage cheese and whipped topping. Add the jello and combine well. Then fold in your drained pineapple and mandarin oranges. Once all of the mixture has been blended well, pour into your serving bowl, cover and refrigerate until serving time.

  1. I grew up in the south but I don't believe I have ever made that. Moved away, got other ideas, I guess. But, I wrote the recipe down and yes, I will make it. After all, we southern gals have to stick together.

  2. Northerners know that one, too, and we just love it. Sometimes I toss in coconut and chopped pecans, too. Hmmmm... I may need to dust off the recipe and set it aside for Thanksgiving.

You don't by chance have the strawberry/banana jello salad that was topped with some type of cream cheese?? I remember it but can't find my mom's recipe...I know the babies would love that one
