CREME BRULEE OATMEAL with CINNAMON CREAM.....and.....A FUN WELCOME TO DISNEY!

5.3 inches of snow.....
in March no less.....

Frozen in March?

There's nothing out there but snow...
where's that rascally rabbit?

The darling offered to pay me $1,000.00 if I jumped in the pool....
I think he felt pretty safe offering that up.....

Sun's comin' up

My little garden fairy....
she used to sit in the back garden woodlands in Maine
and
the snow piled so high, you could no longer see her.

Cowboy boots work beautifully in the snow

Most of us still look like this.....
So on those cold blue mornings.
there is nothing better to warm
you up, than a bowl of hot homemade oatmeal.
Let's just dress it up a touch...
this is a heavenly spoonful of oats!

I learned how to prepare this
divine oatmeal breakfast
from the Chef at Sable Oaks
in South Portland, Maine!

Creme Brulee Oatmeal
 with
Cinnamon Cream

The Cream
1/2 cup heavy cream
3 T. real maple syrup
1 t. cinnamon

The Oatmeal
4 cups water
2 cups old fashioned oats
1/2 tsp. salt
1/8 tsp. freshly grated nutmeg
3 Tbsp. brown sugar
1/8 -1/4 cup sugar

In a small saucepan, bring the cream and cinnamon to a boil.
Reduce heat; cover and simmer for 10 minutes.
Remove from heat. Stir in the syrup and cinnamon. Set aside.

Meanwhile, in a large saucepan over medium heat, bring water to a boil. Add the oatmeal and salt; cook and stir for 5 minutes. Remove from heat; stir in brown sugar, 1/4 cup of the cinnamon cream and nutmeg. Cover and let stand for 2 minutes.

Grease 4 10- inch or 6 mini ramekins with the cooking spray. Add fruit if desired (raspberries, bananas, etc.) Spoon oatmeal over the top; sprinkle with sugar. Place on baking sheet. Broil 4-6 inches from the heat for 7-9 minutes or until sugar is caramelized. Serve with remaining cinnamon cream.

    1. The good thing is Vee....it's gone in the next day or two...unlike Maine where you don't see the grass until May! Hang in there!

  4. Your place looks like ours did last week! We don't get that much snow, but when it comes, it shuts down everything. The oatmeal looks divine and will definitely be on my breakfast menu this weekend. Have fun at Disney World! XOXO

  5. My family lives in Atlanta Georgia and they go every October with the children. Since my daughter passed two years ago it's been hard on the family and my son in law but they go anyway. She absolutely loved it. My granddaughter makes sure she send me the usual bunch of photo's of the children and their fun. The snow photo's were all a joy to me. I used to love the snow.
My husband and his brother are from Maine..and his brother and entire family live there now.. What a beautiful place to live. They also have a family island in Bucks Harbor. What a gorgeous place Maine is. We love oatmeal fixed like that. We don't add the last step. We just add raisens at the end of cooking on the store top. It's wonderful. Sun on snow. What a morning sight that must be!
