MADISON COUNTY CHEESE STRAWS

My precious mother adored cheese straws. She made them every single year for Christmas.
Now, over Thanksgiving, Miss Judy "bought" cheese straws to take over to her friend Jean's house. They were having an intimate wine tasting to begin the holidays and celebrate her recent marriage at "77 years young!"

If you like cheese straws, then I am going to share my recipe with you because it's will make the best cheese straws you ever tasted. I have made Mother's recipe for years. These make a beautiful little appetizer to pair with a glass of wine on those cold winter evenings!

Mother always served hers on a beautiful silver tray......

MADISON COUNTY CHEESE STRAWS
1 (5 ounce) jar of Old English Cheese
1 stick of butter
1 1/2 cups flour
1 t salt
1/2 t. cayenne pepper

Bring the jar of Old English Cheese and the butter to room temperature. Cream the Old English Cheese and the butter. Mix in the salt, cayenne pepper and flour. Press through a cookie press onto an ungreased cookie sheet. Bake 12 minutes at 350 degrees F. This should make about 3 dozen cheese straws!

  1. Can't enjoy the Cheese Straws, since they contain flour.

But hooray for the lady who is recently married at 77. :-)

Oh that photo of the wine glasses! Simply mesmerizing.

As is the photo of Miss Mae Mobley too, of course. ,-)
