DECEMBER! THE HOLIDAYS ARE HERE! YOU CAN'T BE SERIOUS.....

It's December 1st! It's morning. I am still in my robe sipping coffee and browsing through emails and cyber Monday gift ideas! There are an array of Christmas catalogs stacked on the desk that I have not even glanced at yet. I mean, can we all just take a breath. I need a moment to gather my thoughts about Thanksgiving before I can jump into the spirit of Christmas. I'll get there.....perhaps on the weekend.

Hmmm......yes! This is the look and feel of the holiday season! Christmas 2014!
The house is filled with the scents of balsam and sugar cookies.
There is a roaring fire that warms our toes!
Spiced tea is the afternoon delight.
It's a festive holiday packaging that sets the tone for a
warm and welcoming holiday season.

It takes a bit of effort to achieve the look and feel of the Christmas season, doesn't it?

Bringing out the treasured ornaments.

Stringing the lights into fresh balsam fir.

Baking the Christmas cookies.

I was so not in the mood yesterday evening as I was serving leftovers for dinner.
The house was quiet once again. Back to the darling and me and our sweet Maypole.
As I looked out the kitchen window,
all the neighbors had decorated their homes for Christmas and
the street was all aglow with white and colored lights.
I thought..."oh no!
Have we become the stodgy old couple with a house bare and dark?"
I wanted to ensure the neighbors, that we'll get in the spirit, but
it may take us a bit longer!
Perhaps, listening the the sounds of the season and a bit of beautiful inspiration
will be the necessary ingredients to jump into the holiday spirit!

I never thought of gray at Christmas, but I am just loving these stockings!

A woodsy holiday flair....I'm obsessed with deer this year!

Love this look...shades of green and gold.....do you normally select a theme for your gift wrapping? Miss M and I do....this year,
it's tartan plaid and old- fashioned Santas for the children!

I am so in love with this tree skirt.....Santa......are you listening?
Well, this must have worked. I have ordered a few items on line this morning that were not only on sale, but free shipping!
Just hear those sleigh bells ring-a-ling......

Miss M thought this was designed with Mae Mobley in mind....I tend to agree!

  3. Oh my, I'm not "there" yet, myself. And I shall fall back on the "old saw", that everything takes longer to happen, when I am "olden"... ,-) But I do have some decorations down, and on the table. A tiny start, but still a start.

And we are even discussing how we could have wreaths on the front windows. I so so so love that look! One year we put lighted wreaths on our windows. And someone (most likely some college students) stole one of them. -grrrrrrrrrrr- Never wanted to try again.

But maybe this year. Not lighted. Just wreaths with red bows. Maybe.... :-)

    Happy first day of December,
    Tessa~

  5. If you think you want (need) it slow now, just wait until you are as olden as I am....hahhaa...I am getting my tree out today to let it settle into a pretty little 4ft tabletop tree. Decorating in the morning....We don't do a lot of decorating...with 20 stockings, hung by the chimney with care, we don't need too much more...:)
We do very traditional Christmas...from the tree to the wrapping paper. I sure like those stockings, too.....
