BOURBON KENTUCKY DERBY PIE

It's the Kentucky Derby Day Y'all!
Are you preparing a party of your own or attending a southern soiree to celebrate the race?
This year, my heart goes to WICKED STRONG!
He was named to honor the victims of the Boston Marathon bombing.
He is tall, dark and handsome isn't he?

Here's my outfit for the Derby!

Divine and Decadent! A Derby Tradition!

MY BEST KENTUCKY DERBY PIE
1/2 cup butter, melted
3/4 cup sugar
1/2 cup flour
2 eggs
2 tablespoons bourbon
3/4 cup semisweet chocolate chips
1 cup chopped walnuts
1 prepared 8-inch pie crust
Preheat your oven to 350 degrees

Spread chocolate chips and nuts in bottom of prepared unbaked pie shell.

In a mixing bowl, cream butter and sugar together. Mix in flour. Beat the eggs slightly, and stir into the creamed mixture. Add bourbon.

Pour filling into pie shell (over chips and nuts) and bake at 350 degrees for 30 to 40 minutes.

  4. I just love Derby pie! I've had several opportunities to try the original (which I hear is trademarked) in Kentucky when I was with our daughter Kelly. I didn't bake pie yesterday, but did make some Brookies for the occasion:-D Your pie looks amazing and I know my hubby would love to have a slice. XOXO
