KITCHEN UPDATE

Within the coming year....
the darling and I are going to be
putting together a kitchen update.
We both feel it's important
to keep our home in the best condition possible.
So this will include restaining our cabinets
and
installing all new appliances
and
a new dining table chandelier.

We have begun the search for appliances
and
want to ensure we have done our homework.
A refrigerator/freezer
is such a personal preference.

I love this feature of a top drawer above the freezer
for canned drinks, cheeses, luncheon meats and produce.

Is this enough space?
Not sure.....will have to think about it.

Have you seen all the new
technology on appliances lately?

JUST WOW!!!!

New dishwasher

Built in oven range....

with a matching built-in microwave

I love a chandelier that makes a statement......
Must be a bit formal for my taste.

Anyway, we have some time to shop around and
pull together the look we want.
It is exciting to plan and when you invest money
in any update, you want to make the right choices.
Have you experienced a kitchen update lately?
I would love to hear the choices you made.....

  1. Our home was built in the 1970's-so you can imagine--
We bought our home with the FULL intention of updating- then 2008 happened!!
Then-in 2016 my husband was diagnosed with terminal lung cancer.(not telling you this for sympathy-just to get to updating our kitchen) The choice was made for us this past Easter-
the double oven went out!I was in a "tizzy" so to speak-everyone that had upgraded was telling me to be very careful-as the new oven interiors weren't as roomy!I sure didn't need to HAVE to buy all new baking items!! God was good to us and led me in the right direction-
We were able to get a Convection/Conventional oven with a same size interior. What can I say-"Life Happens" and with all of that is going on we are still Blessed Beyond measure.

  3. Hi Betsy.. we did our kitchen 3 years ago when we moved into our old house. We have the fridge on top/freezer on the bottom and love it. We have had 3 Bosch dishwashers that do a great job but the cycle is sooo long. We love our Viking stove. We put in white cabinets and marble countertops and have been very happy with our choice. Good luck.

    1. Hi Katie...of course I followed your update in your home in Mass. Your kitchen is stunning....my preference is so similiar to yours...I adore white cabinets and here, they are somewhat hard to find. Our kitchen in this home has a ton of storage and is very functional....so a good investment we feel, is to upgrade the appliances....especially for resale if that should ever occur. I also love your bell jar lanterns....thank you so very much for the recommendations....hugs from me to you.

  4. No, but I will enjoy reading about your progress here. I have been meaning to tell you that every time I see the summer sleeping porch in your header, I feel like taking a nap. What a gorgeous nook!

  5. I love these kinds of projects! It'll be fun to follow along. When we replace our fridge we will do a fridge on top, freezer on the bottom. Is that photo of the kitchen your current kitchen?

What ever you choose, I'm certain that it will be lovely!

  7. We just renovated a cottage on the Chesapeake. Because of the configuration of the kitchen cabinets we needed a counter depth refrigerator. We ended up with the GE Cafe line. I Love the stove with the small oven on the bottom where the pizza pans, etc are usually stored. Our home in Arlington, VA had the Subzero and Wolfe so this was a change, size wise. I can honestly say my stove with the cast iron griddle cooks and bakes just as well as my Wolf. Downsizing is a wonderful thing!

  9. Love the look you're going for! It's going to be gorgeous!!!! My in-laws have the refrigerator that has the long drawer and freezer on the bottom. They love and I love it. I wish I had one! LOL! I do prefer my dishwasher utensil caddy to be inside the dishwasher and not on the door -- I just feel like they get cleaner but maybe it's my imagination! LOL! I LOVE painted cabinets and furniture! I really love the black and cabinets and I love mixing different color cabinets that coordinate, but are not identical. Can't wait to see all the progress!!!! Yay!
