FALL BAKING...TIME FOR A VERY RICH COOKIE!

Our home isn't about,
"Don't put your feet on this piece of furniture."
It's all about comfort and making people
feel at home!

It's time for fall baking and this has
been a family favorite sweet treat for football weekends
ever since the kiddos were little ones!
I am still decorating, are you?
I seem to have a squirrel obsession this year......
Now...on to those delicious bar cookies......

A VERY RICH COOKIE
50 caramels, unwrapped
13 cup evaporated milk
1(18- ounce) box German chocolate cake mix
34 cup butter, melted
13cup evaporated milk
1(12- ounce) package semi-sweet chocolate chips

Melt first 2 ingredients together over low heat.

In separate bowl, combine cake mix, butter, and evaporated milk. Do NOT mix the chocolate chips into mixture.

Put half of cake mixture in a greased & floured 9" x 13" baking pan. Bake 6 minutes at 350 degrees F. Sprinkle chocolate chips over cake mixture (DO NOT MIX INTO CAKE BATTER). Pour caramel mixture over chocolate chips. Pour remaining cake mix on top, dropping mix by spoonfuls.

Bake at 350 degrees for 18 minutes, cool 20 minutes, cut into bars.

  1. This looks wonderful, Betsy. I have to make a dear friend a birthday treat on the 26th and wanted something delish but not too involved. My heart is heavy as we said good-bye to my dear Daisy. She was an 18 1/2 year old tabby that was a rescue and such a love. I know that it was time and she was in pain, it's just never easy. Patti

  5. Those plates are so adorable. Those cookies are probably amazing, but alas I need to distance myself from such wonderful treats. Enjoy your ongoing fall decorating!-Jenn
