GOING TROPICAL

We are in the planning stages of a VERY BIG GETAWAY
for 2017!
The darling and I are celebrating a rather significant
turning point in our lives
and
are going to mark the occasion by vacationing
at an all inclusive resort!
All the children have been there and done that....
but WE have not!
I believe we have narrowed down the list
to a resort in the Bahamas or Punta Cana!
I would so love to hear what YOUR favorite
tropical vacation has been and what
you experienced at an all-inclusive resort!

  1. Congratulations to you and your darling, Betsy. Our children like the all-inclusive resorts as well, but we have not done the all inclusive vacations. We've been to the Bahamas and Punta Cana, but on a cruise. I just love that beautiful Caribbean. I'm sure you will enjoy whatever place you choose to celebrate. We have one of those big anniversaries coming in 2017 as well. Have fun deciding where to celebrate! ♥

    1. We have been on a cruise in the Caribbean Martha Ellen! Parts were great and some parts were not so great. We just really are not cruise fans. I would love to know what you thought of Punta Cana....and yes.....We are going to have a great time no matter where we choose. Perhaps you can offer some valuable info on what your children enjoyed in a particular resort! I certainly welcome any advice! Thank you SO much!

    2. Betsy, our son is the all inclusive guy and he travels with a lot of friends to different islands. His main complaint about all inclusive is the limitations of the restaurants available at the resort that you've already paid for. He feels that it's a great way to go, but he and his friends always venture out to try more of the local food outside of the resort. It's a great way to check out the local culture. We went to Punta Cana with our children in the '80's when they were teens. I remember the snorkeling was beautiful. Our children still talk about it. I remember a lot of shops that carried beautiful amber jewelry. And rows and rows of sugar cane. I imagine it has changed a lot since then. Happy planning! ♥

  2. Oh yes....Hawaii would be paradise..but this is going to also be a family trip and that would be a tad expensive for all of us! My parents lived in Hawaii during WWII and I loved seeing their home movies! Imagine that!!!

  3. We have been to all inclusive resorts in Punta Cana. It is the more preferred part of the Dominican Republic. You can walk the beach forever. There are so many resorts from which to choose. We have read reviews on Trip Advisor to help us, but those can sometimes be a bit misleading. I would say don't choose the least expensive ones, but you also don't have to go with the most expensive either. I'm sure you will be able to find a great one. It is a beautiful place. -Jenn
