THE READING CORNER......A TEA SHOP MYSTERY

Laura Childs is a best selling author of the
Tea Shop Mystery series!
Would you like to feel as if you just shared a warm cup of tea
 on Church Street in Charleston?
Caution........do not read this mystery if you are the least bit hungry,
because the mouth watering recipes will only aggravate your stomach growls!
I knew when I read that this mystery was placed in Charleston and contained delicious recipes.....it only took one look!

The streets of Charleston, South Carolina are alive with music, dancing and art as the Spoleto festival gets underway. Theodosia, the Indigo Tea Shop owner, feels far from being festive when the inaugural Poet's Tea is caught in an unexpected downpour. The tea members are forced into one of the Heritage's Society's austere halls to continue. This is where affluent society mingles with high artists!

A huge "thud" is overheard during the soiree and the guests are horrified to discover a respected auction house owner has plummeted to his death from the high balcony. Although there were no witnesses, there exists a wealth of suspects that perhaps gave him a "push!"

The mystery revolves around Miss Theodosia developing her own investigation that leads her into the murky swamps of the South Carolina Low Country. She smells deceit in every nook and cranny. She soon discovers a thriving criminal enterprise of art forgery from high society patrons. along with fraud and murder........

Among the Recipes
Cashew Chicken Salad
Haley's Strawberry Biscuits
Cranberry Orange Bread
Lifesaving Sweet Tea
Fireside Tea
and
Theodosia's Secret for Drying Hydrangea's

  1. What a beautiful photo! I do find the mysteries that feature recipes make a gal hungry. Some of my favorite recipes come from such books...Boggles come to mind.

  2. it sounds delicious... reading. things like "...into the murky swamps of the South Carolina Low Country..." sound nicely spooky. but oh my, I just can't read those food-connected-cozies. -pout- because they do make my Mind Hungry. note I did not say they make my Stomach Hungry.

and Mind Hunger is the worst kind, for me. :-)))))

but! there are plenty of delicious mysteries, set in the South, which don't dwell tooo much on food. :-) so I can still get my fill!!!!!!! (is that a pun????)
