FALL FORMAL DINING FOR 2018..A BIT ENCHANTING

I love decorating our formal dining room for fall....
I wanted the colors to be vibrant and jewel tone just
like the colors of the trees during these glorious months.

I have such wonderful memories of fall growing up.....
I can still smell the aroma of leaves burning throughout our
neighborhood....it was something that everyone had to do
as our yards were simply knee deep in falling leaves...
they would be swept off the lawns, on to the curb, then carefully burned.
The smell was incredible and the days would be so cool......

I am loving my pumpkin collection which grows every year...
just when I think I should not add anymore, I find one that I just love....

This tray is from the Southern Living at Home collection
from years ago....so many uses and Miss M has one too!

I have added new florals this year....most all of mine were in disrepair
after our move to Maine and back home again.....time to update.

I also enjoy my collection of harvest and Thanksgiving figurines......

Do you enjoy a centerpiece that makes a statement?

I always hope everyone can return home for the holidays,
but that's probably wishful thinking....
I miss, and will always miss, the Thanksgiving days
from our past....I love making it the best day out of the year!

  4. Oh I understand the desire to gather everyone as easily as we gather pumpkins and decorations. My mother often said that the holiday is for those present and she would not weep for those she missed. I have had to remember that a few times. Personally, I would put out a call, say for 2019 or 2020 and say that everyone is expected HOME for Thanksgiving this year. Rent a hall! 😉 Everything looks so beautiful at your place. I miss autumn fires...they are not allowed in my community anymore.

  5. Hi Betsy: Your formal dining-room is gorgeous. I love fall, too and all that goes with it. The colours are so vibrant and beautiful. You have such a pretty collection of pumpkins and I especially love your Thanksgiving figurines. I miss our Thanksgivings when I was a kid, too. It was always a full house and there were so many delicious dishes to try. I remember my mom lining our walk-way with orange pumpkins for the guests to take home. The cousins loved that. :) It's a beautiful time of year. Enjoy your preparations. hugs, Deb

  6. Your mix of colours is absolutely beautiful. Your centerpiece is just lovely. Up here in Canada our thanksgiving is now finished and we still all gather together at that time. Between my siblings, our children and grandchildren there are 44 of us. I love this catch up time so much and to be able to spend 4 days together is such a blessing
