SUMMER VIBES ..LET'S GET THIS PARTY STARTED!

Can you feel the change?
Summertime is definitely the place to be for sweet finds
to make life a bit more fun!

The sixth graders were able to actually perform
their talents in front of all the parents at the
end of year band concert!

The senior class of 2021 danced the night away at the Worthington Hotel......

And, our grandson celebrated graduation from high school....

now it's onto Montana State University on a football scholarship!!!

School is on Summer break for the next few months and the kiddos
can finally relax and unwind...
there are plans to be made for family barbecues,
swimming and splashing in the pool, and planning
an actual vacation this year!

One of my fondest memories of summertime
when we were kids, was to visit my grandparents
and play outside all day long with my cousins...
we loved catching lighting bugs in the evening
and putting them in jars just until we delighted in
their magic...and then set them free......

Friday nights are meant for cocktails on the patio
and burgers on the grill.......and yes....
we do treat Mae to an evening fire even during the summer.......

Who doesn't love fresh berries and ice cream?

We will be enjoying a very special family birthday in July
oceanside....we had to cancel three scheduled trips last year
due to Covid....everyone is looking forward to this one!

So, it's been just fantastic to plan my beach wardrobe...
new flip-flops, cute little dresses, swim coverups and
party accessories.....

I have a lovely collection of hats and just had to add
one more in this beautiful shade of pink.....

I tried the Mexican Street Corn Pasta Salad and indeed
it was a hit, so this new set will be ideal for serving
outdoors one of evening down in Florida!

And....the perfect size for a cold beverage while
relaxing and reading down by the gulf...I can hear
those ocean waves as we speak.......

A new lipstick in the shade "PINK FOR ME"
always boosts my mood.....

And....I love two scents while at the beach...
lemon and coconut....this lemon shampoo is divine!

A new recipe which made my BEST OF THE BEST list.......

I am a huge fan of HOMEWTOWN with
Ben and Erin Napier and just had to make
Ms. Dot's Pound Cake featured on their show
of Revitalizing Mississippi.......

Was raised in Mississippi where summer starts in April, we don't have fireflies, we have lightnin' bugs, rice & beans are veggies, pecan pie, sweet potato pie, & banana puddin' is mandatory, y'all is a proper noun, chicken is always fried, biscuits comes with gravy, sweet tea is the house wine, everything is darlin' &
someone is always getting their heart blessed.

I love planning my menu with easy and delicious
recipes....on my night to serve dinner....
we will have a layered trifle......

Pound cake, with vanilla custard and
fresh berries....

So light and fresh on a Summer evening....

Yes, darling girl....you will be going too!

What are you planning for this Summer?
It's going to be so much better than 2020...I just know it!

QUIET AFTERNOONS, COMFORT FOOD AND SUNFLOWERS

I love Sunday rides to some of our favorite areas
around the Dallas area.....
I thought this beautiful sign, created with fresh flowers
was absolutely stunning...
it was a quiet place to sit and relax a bit...with social distancing, of course!

I am really longing for our days to return to our
old normal....festive gatherings with cocktail hours
on a Friday night.....

I want the anticipation of fall football games.....

Our back porch is my peaceful haven....
it's quiet, the birds are singing and people
are walking their dogs....there is the lovely water
sounds from the pool and butterflies flit about
living their best life......

One of my newly planted daylilies bloomed...

And, then another.......just gorgeous...love the colors!

It's the perfect spot for reading and browsing through
the latest catalogs....

COMFORT FOOD

Scrambled eggs with Feta Cheese

I am changing up a vignette in the kitchen with a Summer vibe...
I love Sunflowers in the seasons of both Summer and Fall!

This little vignette makes me happy....
it's a lovely look for summer.......

I came across these beautiful tin planters
which came in a set of three.....
I plan to use these in Autumn too!

And, this gorgeous sunflower tin.....

I think there is nothing better than
Susan Branch to bring back the sweetness and
positivity in life....and we all certainly could use those
right now!

A WEEK OF CONFERENCE CALLS, COMFORT FOOD AND FEELING GRATEFUL

I found this adorable little sign at Walmart
about a month ago and thought it was rather appropriate
for the beginning of this post....
a virtual hug for each of you....

Well, I'm not sure things are any more positive than they were
a week ago.....I am ever so thankful to those that keep
our lives going...the list is endless....

The Divine Miss M sent me this photo of their Publix Friday morning....
it's still hit or miss at the grocery in all areas of the country....
I am thankful for the fresh vegetable and fruits that we can find....
who would have thought????

I decided to bring out different coffee mugs to change things up
and am loving to revisit old favorites!

Talking about old favorites....
I remembered this one from The Best of the Best....called TRAMP EGGS!

Here is the recipe....this is a very vintage recipe
and it's absolutely delicious!

Yum-O

I have so loved having the darling home for lunch everyday....
he said he has not eaten this well in some time....
Today was Minestrone Soup and a classic Grilled Cheese....

Are you bored sometimes during the day?
It's a great time to rotate your cookbooks and
browse recipes for dinner ideas!

Spring afternoons have been absolutely wonderful on the patio.....

I have never seen so many people out walking...
however, the neighborhood is so quiet.....

Self care is so important right now....
I am absolutely in love with Garnier products
and these are my current favorites!

Miss Mae is my constant companion.....
what would I ever do without this little minx?

A marvelous way to stay connected to family and loved ones
is through ZOOM!
We enjoyed a marvelous Happy Hour on Saturday night!

Those Banana Nut Muffins smelled heavenly baking on
Sunday afternoon....I think we must be eating and snacking
a bit more lately....isn't that just crazy??

We must "pass over"...from fear to trust...
just what PASSOVER means.....with the coming of Easter Sunday.....
