Christmas Day 2017 will fall on a Monday....
Christmas dinner is going to be a bit different
this year as some must leave early and return to work
on Tuesday or leave early in the morning to enjoy
dinner with their other side of the family.
We do have our menu of grilled steaks and crab legs
so it will be a quiet but delicious dinner for four.
Today, I am inviting you all into a tour of the
formal dining room, which happens to be my favorite
room in the entire house.
I love the colors and the intimacy of this room.
I placed my santa in red with the toile collection
that sits on the serving tray made by my father.
This santa is 30 years old now.
Mother's sideboard buffet is adorned with gold and silver.
The lighting in this room is always a bit tricky so the exposure
is often hard to calculate.
This is going to look so pretty in the evening as the houses
and trees light up with a very soft glow.
This year I am using our Better Homes and Gardens dinnerware
which features beautiful woodland scenes.
These little sugared houses are so so pretty....
My Victorian snow children are also quite vintage now...
probably about 35 years old.
I will try to capture a photo of these at night
when you are able to see the light from within the little windows.
I love, love, love the cookie jars featured with this set
from a few years ago.
I keep them out all year as they are just so beautiful.
It's a sweet little village with beautiful trees...
The platter was a new pattern added this year....
Santa's gilded sleigh is filled with mercury glass ornaments....
This green bubble glass ashtray was in my parent's
living room for as long as I can remember...
a treasured piece....
Isn't she too sweet....so Victorian
I draped a heirloom pink pearl bracelet within this wreath....
I hope you enjoyed the tour....
I love visiting formal dining rooms all dressed up for the holidays!
We wish each and every one of you the Merriest of Christmas Day
