Sometimes, you just need to change things up a bit....
I needed a new rug or two for our kitchen and
couldn't decide on the style or color I wanted to go with....
then somehow I decided to pull out the navy blue from the
drapes and see what pieces I could add to the counter tops
that I had stored away....and....I am loving the results!
I adore this soup tureen and have not had this on display
for some years now.....stunning piece!
I was actually a bit nervous to bring out
one of Grandmother's vintage plates, but I
wanted to be able to enjoy looking at it each day
rather than have it tucked away safely in a china cabinet.
I decided to turn the farmhouse table around
and
was thrilled that it made this little dining nook seem larger....
I do not own a lot of blue pieces, but I do so enjoy what I have.
I purchased the soup tureen and this teapot
probably twenty five years ago....
The blue and white plate is another one of Grandmother's
pieces and features all the historic landmarks from Arkansas...
she must have been visiting...
the little french storybook plates belonged to my mother in-law.
It can be so lovely to have these heirlooms out on display
so you can enjoy them daily and remember those you have loved.
When I found this....I knew this was the look and color
I wanted to bring in......two new runners make a huge difference!
Mae seems to approve.....as long as
there are sunbeams...all is right in our world!
Thanks for stopping by today....
what little changes have you made in your decor lately?
I love the blue and white pieces you have shown. The runner rugs are beautiful, I like to see the things that mean so much to me. You are so right, if it's stored away, you are not enjoying it. I think seeing important pieces make us think of the person more. :):) Hope it's not too hot there. We have a bit of a cool down today. Blessings, xoxo, Susie
ReplyDeleteWell Susie..it is July in Texas...I would say "It's hot!"...thank you for visiting today and I hope you have some fun plans for the weekend....stay cool love.
DeleteLovely blue and white pieces, Betsy! I adore blue and white, and it's obvious in my decor. :) Our den is probably the only room where I haven't used blue and white. Your grandmother's plate is so pretty, as is your new kitchen runner.
ReplyDeleteI just purchased a new rug for the guest room to replace the one that I've never been thrilled with. ;>) I love the new one, and I got a really good deal on it. Also might be making another small change in our kitchen. Mae looks so pretty; our first Scottie years ago used to follow the sunbeams around our house for her naps.
Hope you have a great weekend!
Hugs,
Denise at Forest Manor
Hey Denise...sounds like you a busy girl updating your lovely home...funny how small changes can lift one's spirit...loved your visit today..hugs from me to you!
DeleteBetsy, your blue and white pieces are lovely and really say summer to me. I especially love the blue and white transferware teapot. Blue is a timeless classic. My Mama loved blue and white and passed that love to me. Even though I'm a red lover, blue and white come next! Your blue runner looks great! Have a great weekend. ♥
ReplyDeleteI am so glad you stopped by today Martha Ellen..It's so great that you love blue because of your Mother...Red is so vibrant and happy all year round....have a lovely weekend.
DeleteVery nice to use the special heirloom pieces. I was surprised to see the farm-y aspect of your beautiful blue transferware.
ReplyDeleteI believe a French Country look lends itself beautifully to blue and white...I have always loved Transferware in any color...do you enjoy using your collectibles throughout your home Vee? Have a nice afternoon.
Deleteone can never go wrong with blue and white. it is always so refreshing. in any setting.
ReplyDeleteand miss mae is looking very regal in her sunbeam. look at her little paw turned under.
it's of course shining just for her! XO♥
Hi Tammy....so happy you visitied today. As always thank you for such kind comments on Miss Mae...she is doing quite well. Have a wonderful weekend.
DeleteI haven't done any updating lately and it's making me sad. Just a whirlwind summer so far and I'm doing good just to keep it cleaned up...I've always been a blue person waaaaay before it was fashionable. My friends have always questioned my blue decorating until now!!!
ReplyDeleteI've always said....I'd rather my mom's crystal get broken while we are using them with laughter and good times than when I'm moving them around inside the china cabinet!!
It is clear how much you enjoy your family and your celebrations Janey..that's great to see and hear. Have a great, great weekend.
DeleteI collect Flo Blue--love that color! Your redecorating looks wonderful and maybe that's what I need to do too...spice things up! Happy weekend, my friend, XOXO
ReplyDeleteI find little changes can make me so happy Susan...let me know what you decide upon! Hugs from me to you...
DeleteYour blue is lovely and I love the runner. I am with you on using the heirloom dishes. I have so many of my mother's pieces and a few from my husband's grandmother. They are treasures to me. I turn my kitchen table just like you did whenever I am in the mood to change things up. I have been debating about putting a rug underneath my kitchen table and see that you have done that and it looks great. Now I just need to find the right one. Great inspiration from you, as always.
ReplyDeleteOh I so hope you can share the new changes in your home....as always I love your visits....enjoy your coming week!
DeleteLove your blue and white. And Mae, of course.
ReplyDeleteThank you Deb...I know you are fan of blue dinnerware also...cannot wait to follow the progress of your new home!
