A NOVEMBER SUNDAY....FOOTBALL, OATMEAL PIE AND A FIREPLACE FOR TWO!

I love Sunday afternoons, when there is a chill in the air, football plays on tv and
the house is filled with a spicy warm fragrance of home cooking!

November is normally a beautiful month in Texas. The days begin to grow chillier and the leaves are finally beginning to turn and fall. The grass is still green and becomes filtered with crunchy, dried leaves. Some days are still flip-flop weather and others call for a light fleece jacket!

When the cocktail hour begins, it's just the darling and me sitting outside by the firepit!
We bought this firepit in Maine never knowing how beautiful it would be in the Texas house! I just love sitting here! There was a party going on next door and we could hear the laughter and cheering on of the Dallas Cowboys! We had a bird pay us a visit and we finally decided he must be telling us to "feed me!" So......we put out a plate of birdseed! I beleive he knew cold weather was on the horizon!

Hey......I know who this is! There's that signature highball........

Meanwhile......inside by the warmth of the fire.........

Update on our Luke the Duke!

A visit from Wonka the Therapy Dog brought out a smile! Wonka got right up in bed and wanted to take a nap with Luke and tried to take his teddy bear when he left! — at Canine Assistants.

Thank you to beautiful Wonka and to Canine Assistants!
You will be forever in our hearts!

  1. Oh look at that beautiful Therapy Dog. Oh how wonderful are all such working dogs.

The other day, we saw a young couple, training a working dog, out on the street and in a department store. This dog will probably accompany a person, who is somehow disabled, and be his/her care taker. Just beautiful, to see the patient training. :-)

Gracious, I got carried away and forgot about the delightful fires. That is a gorgeous Fire Pit. Our son/daughter in law next door, have a simple round one. But I much prefer your beautiful standing one. :-)

Yes, Sunday afternoons in Fall... Football, football, football... And the fireplace going.

Except that his teams are in a horrible state, and he is not having fun. -pout- :-) But ND and Navy had an amazing game, last Sat. It kind of made up for all the troubles which Peyton and Eli are having. Kind of made up for it. But not much. Nope. Didn't make up for it. lol....

  4. I have never heard of Oatmeal Pie, but this one looks and sounds delicious! I'm smiling after seeing a photo of Luke with the dog. One of our dear friends has a therapy dog and I know how much pleasure it brings the children when she takes him in for a visit (although, it makes her cry sometimes). What a wonderful way to start the month, XOXO

    1. Oatmeal pie is a very old recipe! There are various recipes in print! It tastes similar to a pecan pie. It's even better the second day!
