EASTER SUNDAY 2026

Good Morning Kindred Spirits...
I hope you all enjoyed a lovely Easter weekend.....
we celebrated a birthday for our son

 and then
enjoyed a lovely, yet rather quiet Easter Sunday....

The Easter tablescape takes some planning....

A Saturday morning spring rain rolling through

The first rose of the season....

I woke up early to begin the dinner preparations and noticed
a beautiful full moon on Easter morning....
this told a story from the heavens....

Which then gave way to a stunning sunrise....
God speaks to us in amazing ways....
a reminder of the the teachinga of Easter.....

It was just three for dinner this year....

Candlelight always makes it special

The menu was planned and this year,
rather than ham, I slow roasted a turkey breast...
the kitchen smelled heavenly all day

Crescent roll bread,,,

Deviled eggs and roasted turkey

Broccoli cheese casserole and Scalloped Potatoes
from Costco

Lemon and Raspberry Tarts

This was the birthday cake....
made with Blackberry Wine...very
similar to a Crack Cake

It was a special day and we are thankful to see, visit
and celebrate with family...
Thank you Lord, for allowing us to enjoy another Easter Sunday....

the Hyacinth is in bloom so surely
Spring must have arrived.
I have a few spring delights for you today

I still have a collection of Bath and Body Works candles
but I have not been to the store in quite some time.
Their candles are rather pricey these days so instead,
I have been quite happy with the candles from Walmart!

I love the designs, the scents and the price!

I miss going home for Easter...so many years, so many egg hunts when the children
were dressed in their Easter finest and dinner with Mother and Daddy....



I am in love with this table runner....



This darling little thrifted find of Fitz and Floyd is new this year!
These were marked down at a marvelous price and
I simply could not resist adding them to my collection



I wish I could remember how long I have had this garden rabbit..
he comes out during Spring and sports a festive bow each year...

I purchased this set of Churchill dinnerware from QVC
years ago and love using it every Easter

A darling little salt and pepper shaker came with 
the rabbit pitcher....a lovely set from Valerie Par Hill

And, as is a must have each season is
the glass bunny candy dish filled with Jelly Beans

Mother always had her formal dining table
decorated with collectibles during Easter...
I always loved seeing what she enjoyed putting on display

Last year's egg plate....I thought it was darling...and delicious too

Our darling little Lucy...so curious about everything

Now if you are in need for a perfect ending to your Easter dinner'
then Jay's Custard Pie recipe was a real hit with our family.....

SPRING SHOPPING

 I decided I needed to get out of the house and
go to Kroger...I needed a mood booster and honey.
it was the most wonderful morning.......
I browsed the isles at a leisurely pace and found
sone delightful goodies to add to my cart.....
Check out was a breeze and we chatted about
the weather and the BAKERY cookies I purchased
which were from Collin Street Bakery down in Waco...
I love a day of successful shopping......
Never forget that the grocery store can have some
lovely home goods......

I love everything about this candle....

Mediterranean Citrus...the name had me at hello..
.the soft yellow color of the jar
and the scent...it's just lovely

Oh this sign...it's going to be a beautiful addition to the patio

I couldn't believe the price was only $9.00

Beautiful little spring cupcake holders

And a package of six taper candles for $3.00

A little package of spring green basket filler

And a must have....white chocolate bunny

I gave this little bunny dish to my mother almost fifty years ago...
now vintage and ever so sweet

I love the time when the isles are filled with Easter candy....

And lastly, a darling little vintage Easter sign.....
Sometimes, all it takes is a bit of retail therapy to lift the spirit

EASTER 2025...A VINTAGE MENU

It's the first holiday of the year, that we can celebrate
and decorate for Spring as we honor Easter Sunday
and all the promise that it brings to each of us....

This year, I found my inspiration from others
that post on social media, along with one of my
favorite heirloom recipes from Mother and both
of my Grandmothers.....



We will come together as a family to celebrate the rebirth
and new life that comes each spring....

I came across the Ham Tetrazzini from Jamie Cooks It Up....
I have made many of her recipes which are always delicious!

One Pan Ham Tetrazzini

Next is a squash casserole recipe featured
by Brenda Gantt who resides in Andalusia, Alabama
and has authored three cookbooks.

Ms. Brenda runs her own Bed and Breakfast 
in Andalusia called the Cottle House.
I so enjoy visiting with her on Facebook and You Tube!
Her recipe is called Squash Alabama!

Now, if you are southern, you know that
those marvelous FLUFF jello salads have been
served by the best cooks for the holidays way back
from the early 1950's....
They could be found on every dining table
for special occasions served in pretty cut crystal bowls....
so, this Easter we are going to enjoy
a Mandarin Orange Pineapple salad.....

I am also including the family favorite of
Crescent Roll Loaf...
my mother-in-law served this often
which is where I learned it from!
Requires two rolls of crescent roils, a stick of butter
and a pretty loaf pan....

And, I am featuring a Chocolate Chip Chess Pie
for our sweet ending....another southern favorite
as opposed to my normal Carrot Cake or Coconut Cake...

To compliment this wonderful dinner...
a refreshing ice cold tea with lemon will be served....

We have sweet memories of the past of egg hunts
and Easter baskets full of goodies....
our group will be smaller this year, as
family is scattered...but we all will be 
honoring Easter with loved ones and 
fabulous dinners in the formal dining rooms....
