CHRISTMAS CREATIONS AT HOME..A SMALL HOLIDAY HOME TOUR

Remember the anticipation you felt as a child
of waking up on Christmas morning and rushing into the living room
to see what Santa brought to you and left under the tree...
oh to be a child again at Christmas...keep that joyous feeling in your heart!

Savor your days with the comforts of home.
There are days that I like being my age.
I am enjoying putting away the fall decor
and rummaging through all the Christmas decorations
to create our holiday home without rushing to get it all done.
This is simply the beginning of creating cozy corners
which still need a bit of tweaking.
So today, I invite you to take a peek inside
and enjoy a little home tour.

This little vignette is by our big bay window
so the lighting is always a bit tricky...

It's fun to see what little things you can add to a corner
to achieve the look of whimsy.....

Peppermint sticks are fabulous as stirrers for Hot COCOA.....

I purchased this darling little Santa last year
from the Valarie Par Hill line...isn't he too cute!!!

Santa in his warm fleece robe and fuzzy slippers
enjoying his cup of hot chocolate.....

I came across this darling little tin on Amazon which I knew
I wanted to use to hold a little Christmas pine......
This little vignette is a work in progress....
I am really drawn to vintage looks this year!

I decorated the kitchen island in a black and white theme..
these sweet little houses were from the Target dollar spot last year...
and they light up in the evenings!

It's fun to dress the Kitchen Aid for the holidays...
a few tea towels and a sweet little ornament added a perfect
and festive touch!

I plan on filling these with Christmas candy...the
grandchildren love these tins which I purchased
from the Container Store a few years ago.

I have had this spoon rest Santa for many years
and just love him on display!

I just love this snowman candle....
he is just happy hanging out on the Magnolia cake stand!!

The mantel is completed and I will say,
this was so much fun to design...

The theme is called Winter Blush
inspired by the Opalhouse Holiday Collection from Target and Pier One.

The Foyer

The theme I chose was Woodland Plaid!

Christmas Music and Baking Day while decorating.......

Morning coffee with warm freshly baked
Cranberry Bread......

Mae Mobley's Christmas tree.....

A peaceful December evening.....

Napping to Pandora Christmas......

This weekend we will put the tree up, decorate,
bake cookies and play our traditional Christmas music....
then it's on to the formal dining room and living room....
hope you are enjoying your December days......

Cheers Y'all.....

  1. You have the sweetest blog. I love reading it and seeing your videos. Mae Mobley is so content lying there cuddling. She loves everything you touch is what it is. Cranberry bread is what I am going to make. I get some great ideas from your blog and some great recipes and food ideas.

    2. Yes, seasonal fun indeed. It's lying all over my floor and now for the clean up after putting up decorations. I so love it though! Happy Christmas season to you!

  2. Dear one, I needed your calming influence right now. My dogs are barking and my knee is croaking!!! Been dragging turkeys, pilgrims, and pumpkins out to the garage and bringing in Christmas decorations. Why is it such hard work? I just sat down and called it quits for the day. I've had it! Hubby said I sounded like I was depressed. Ha! No, I'm just old and pooped. Now, where's my wine? It looks like Xmas just exploded in here but tomorrow is another day. And I'm telling myself everybody's house looks like this for a few days till it comes together. Right? Wish I had been born with the minimalist decorating gene. Not a chance. My motto...more is more is more is more is more is more. Heaven help me!

    1. Oh Tobe....I can so relate to your feelings! It takes me a while to transition from fall to Christmas and it seems to come upon us so quickly...it indeed becomes harder as we age! But....I TRY to remember to enjoy it....and we do....just take it one room or corner at a time....it always seems to help if I listen to Christmas music....maybe bake some cookies...please enjoy your weekend love!

but now I'm going to make a cup of hot chocolate after seeing your chocolate bar!!!
