Fresh berries just go hand-in-hand with SUMMER.
I picked up this precious little berry basket at Kroger last week
and isn't this prettier in the fridge than a plastic container?
So....this made me think of adding fresh blueberries
to Grandmother Grace's most loved whipping cream coleslaw.
She was well known and loved for her potato salad
and
her coleslaw....it's a most treasured family recipe!
WHIPPING CREAM COLESLAW
1 head of cabbage
1 pint of whipping cream
5 T. sugar
3 T. white vinegar
Estelle's sweet tip`
you can adjust the sugar and vinegar to taste...
just like Grandmother Grace did...

Shred the cabbage head.
Place in a large mixing bowl.
Sprinkle cabbage with sugar and vinegar.
Then add the pint of whipping cream
Mix gently and you are ready to serve.
Adding the blueberries is optional but it is oh-so good!
I have never heard of whipping cream in slaw. My MIL used to make good slaw. I have tried to mimic her recipe...I have been close a few times. LOL It looks so pretty with the blueberries. Blessings, xoxo, Susie
ReplyDeleteThis looks so good. I just had blueberries in my oats but I would like to try this dish. They are in season here now and a good price in the stores. Enjoy your day! Pass the spoon! heehee!
ReplyDeleteYour berry basket is delightful. I find myself picking up pretty things like that, too. I will definitely try this slaw recipe. My husband loves coleslaw and this is a little different than what we are used to having. Thanks for sharing your family recipe.
ReplyDeleteWhat an inspiration you are! This sounds so good that I will be trying it for sure! Snagging it for my salads folder at Pinterest.
