"CONGRATULATIONS ESTELLE! YOU WON!"
What? I won something?
Yes, indeed, I was chosen the lucky winner of
The January apron giveaway which is an original creation from:
Susan Tierney Cockburn
I have great admiration for Susan T. Cockburn. She has created a beautiful life. Susan is an accomplished author with her book, Paper Bouquet: Using Paper Punches to Create Beautiful Flowers, http://www.amazon.com/Paper-Bouquet-Punches-Beautiful-Flowers/dp/1600590594/ref=sr_1_13?ie=UTF8&qid=1392039596&sr=8-13&keywords=paper+flowers+book
which can be purchased on Amazon. Her recipes are out of this world. Susan provides inspiration by using various bakeware to improve the recipe’s presentation. But her aprons…..well her aprons will bring back memories of our mothers and grandmothers……
The January apron was created in honor and celebration of National Wear Red Day, which reminds us all to raise awareness for heart disease among women. Did you realize that this is THE number one killer of women in the United States! What a lovely reminder Susan!
My grandmother, Estelle, made gorgeous aprons! When she passed away, there were quite a few aprons that mother received. I remember she shared many of them with my Grandmother Grace and my aunts in Ohio. I also was reminded of the ones she kept and wore everyday. I had almost forgotten this until I received this little beauty from Susan.
Here I am in my beautiful new apron.
The picture is a little blurry, but these days, I look better a little blurry.
We had two pies this weekend. One peach and the other cherry. We had errands to run all day and were treated to our new favorite Texas Barbecue place, Hutchins! They were voted top favorite BBQ in the state of Texas by Dallas Magazine! So......I did not have time to BAKE the pies, they were compliments of Kroger Bakery! But what a beautiful idea to show off this darling apron with a beautiful cherry pie.....Happy, happy, happy!
You should treat yourself to a visit to Susan's blog! It will brighten your day!
Thank you Susan, for a most wonderful gift!
Oh Betsy! I love the story of your grandmother's aprons being passed down to your mom. The apron just looks perfect on you; I always say, "the apron chooses the recipient" and I know my mother is smiling in heaven knowing the tradition goes on...it's like paying it forward, don't you think! XOXO
