Reserved Reservations!

As we look ahead to our new year, we talk and dream about our next vacation spot. Since moving to Maine, we soon learned of one of the most beautiful areas of Maine, Acadia National Park. We have chosen a most charming Victorian Bed and Breakfast known as Harbour Cottage Inn on Mt. Desert Island to make our summer reservations.

Mount Desert Island, off the coast of Maine, is widely known as the home of
Acadia National Park and the town of Bar Harbor.
Mount Desert Island, in Hancock County, Maine, is the largest island off the coast of Maine. With an area of 108 square miles it is the 6th largest island in the contiguous United States. Though it is often claimed to be the third largest island on the eastern seaboard of the United States, it is actually second behind Long Island (and ahead of Martha's Vineyard). The island has a permanent population of approximately 10,000, although it is estimated that two and a half million tourists a year visit Acadia National Park on the island. The island is home to numerous well-known summer colonies such as Northeast Harbor and Bar Harbor. President Obama and the First Family chose it as a weekend vacation getaway spot in July 2010. Current notable summer residents include George Mitchell,Tim Robbins, David Rockefeller, Susan Sarandon, and Martha Stewart.

Situated in beautiful Southwest Harbor, Maine less than a mile from Acadia National Park, the Harbour Cottage Inn Bed and Breakfast reflects an atmosphere of sophisticated elegance and provides a style of service similar to that of a small boutique hotel.

A ship at my side spreads her white
sails to the morning breeze and starts
for the blue ocean."
