Hey Darlin'!
Now listen....this is going to be all about
THE BISCUIT today!
Oh yes.....and the GRAVY.....
CHOCOLATE GRAVY no less!
This is a southern delight through and through
and
I am going to bet, you probably never have tried this.....
but I ask you,
would you turn this down?
This recipe comes from our favorite gal,
Miss Paula Deen!
I'm with Paula.....nothing goes together better
than biscuits and gravy....
Perhaps a side order of bacon is called for.......

LOL- Love it- I posted this recipe a few years ago and it has the most hits of anything I have ever had on my blog. You make it just like I do. Most people have never heard of it (unless you are Suthern')...my grandkids love it and I do it for a treat for them every once in a while. I must say your pictures are LOTS better than mine!
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful, wonderful weekend---what time should I swing by for my biscuit and 'gravy'? xo Diana
You know Diana...I should have remembered you made this...I believe I needed a reminder...thank you! I know it is indeed an ODD combination and at first, I had trouble thinking this would be good...but WOW! It is indeed a treat!I would love to have you at the breakfast table one day! Warm hugs!
DeleteThis may be only the third blog post I have ever seen about chocolate gravy. The last time, I remember mentioning it to John and he turned up his nose, which was a rare thing for him to do. Now I'll just have to turn it into an adventure for sometime when I have company. I can't be alone in the house with a batch of biscuits and gravy because, no, I could not turn it down. π³
ReplyDeleteI can relate to John's reaction Vee! It never sounded very good to me, but it is well worth a try! Yum-O...just a special little treat! Hope you try it for your grands! I can assure you they will give you big hugs for this one!
DeleteI haven't made this in years. My grandma use to make it for us kids when we would come to visit. It make it extra special..ahe would melt a Hershey bar into my it. Her recipe is very similar to yours just with the addition of vanilla.
ReplyDelete1/4 cup cocoa
3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
3/4 cup white sugar
2 cups milk
1 tablespoon butter, softened
2 teaspoons vanilla
Oh Jacquie...thank you! A touch of vanilla would be marvelous! I hear so many remember this from breakfast at their grandmothers! Isn't that just a beautiful memory! Have a great weekend love!
DeleteBetsy, I have eaten this in my youth. I always wanted to stay at my Aunt Helen's and Uncle Luke's , because Aunt Helen made the very best chocolate gravy and biscuits. She made plenty of it too. Thanks for the memory. Blessings, xoxo, Susie
ReplyDeleteOh Susie...thank you for sharing this memory! I hear this so often that this recipe was made so often years ago...how interesting! Must have been a real treat maybe during the depression! I hope you try this soon for the grandbabies! Enjoy your weekend!
DeleteThank you for another great recipe! I think this would be perfect for Monday's Quad Day! I'll have it all ready when they arrive. Amber will enjoy bringing them early so she won't have to prepare breakfast! Monday is the one day I can do all three meals for the kids and she can get a day off!
ReplyDeleteHow wonderful Linda..you will be receiving lots of hugs for this one! I look forward to seeing those sweet little faces light up for your breakfast! Perhaps even a kiss from LD!!!! Have a great weekend love!
