WINTER FROST CANDLE HOLDER....A DIY PROJECT

These turned out beautifully...
and so easy to do!
I had inexpensive glass candle holders
left over from a wedding reception I hosted some years ago.
They have just been sitting on shelf for probably the past fifteen years!
So...with a little inspiration, I decided to try my hand at
a holiday DIY project!

You can use any glass candle holder or jar you have on hand.
Grab a jar of Mod Podge, a brush and some Epsom Salts.

Pour some Epsom salts in a bowl.

Take your brush and brush your Mod Podge all over the glass.

Then carefully sprinkle or roll your glass jar in the Epsom Salts
until you achieve the amount of coverage you desire.
Shake off any excess.
Allow to dry for about one hour.

Place a candle or tealight inside the holder and viola!
A winter frosted candle holder will add sparkle to your
holiday winter vignette!
I plan on taking the remaining two and
covering them in the same method using
faux snowflakes rather than the Epsom Salts.
These will grace our dining table for Christmas dinner!

  1. I love these. You did a great job making them. That could work on many glass type containers. Clever. Blessings, xoxo, Susie

  2. These are lovely, Betsy! I love a good snowy look during the Christmas season. :)

How is Miss Mae doing? I'm thinking about you and hope that you both are doing well.

    1. Hi Denise! Thank you! I appreciate your question about Mae Mobley. Unfortunately it has been a tough go...she is still having seizures. They are increasing her dosage to two pills per day. I am constantly on edge to see is she is going to go into a seizure. They are also adding a Chinese herb to her meds. I am praying she improves. Warm hugs to you also!

  9. I've seen these done before, however, I forgot all about it. Yours look beautiful and thank you for the reminder!! I'm sure the snowflakes would be beautiful as well. I'm so sorry Miss Mae is still having problems. It just breaks my heart for a fur baby to have health issues. My daughter had a dog many years ago that had seizures and it's just so difficult! She had them predominantly during a full moon! They weren't as frequent or as severe at other times. Just never had any professional to figure that out. Give Miss Mae lots of hugs and love!

    1. Thank you Pat for this sweet comment. The Vet even said seizures can be related to the cycle of the moon as bizarre as this sounds. We are still struggling each day with this, so I am wondering if she has an underlying issue. It's been a very, very stressful ordeal. Thank you for asking. Wishing you a lovely weekend. Big hugs!

  10. Sorry to read in your reply to Pat that things are not yet perfect with Miss Mae. Saying a little prayer for her and for you. It must make things a challenge.

This diy project is so cute and I think I have everything I need to accomplish it already...now for extra time.

    1. Thank you Vee. It continues to be daunting and upsetting. I am not sure the meds are the answer. I thank you for the prayers. Let me know if you try the DIY. Enjoy your weekend love.
