A PERFECT GIFT.....AT YOUR SERVICE!

This is THE Williams-Sonoma
Son #1 was in San Fransico all last week on business and
sent me this picture of my all time favorite store!
Wouldn't you just LOVE to spend a day in San Fran, browsing through this gorgeous store,
all dressed up for the holidays?
I know, I would!
Thank you Greg!

Now.....onto my story

It was supposed to be a candy wonderland......
I happened to look out the kitchen window in the late afternoon,
when I noticed one of those old, rather tattered mail trucks stopped across the street,
sorting packages out of the back.
In a few moments, I heard someone leaving a package at my front door.
Mae sets her ears to "alert mode", when she senses someone at the door.
Oh hooray.....one of my on-line orders has arrived!

Williams-Sonoma is one of my all-time favorite stores!

As I stated before, I do much of my shopping on-line!
There are pros and cons to everything, I am learning.

I was very taken with two of the candy tins featured in their holiday catalog!
I thought they would make darling keepsakes for the children one day...
I know, who thinks like that, right?
 Well, I do!
Who doesn't like caramels and sour gummy stars in adorable little tins?

With great anticipation, very similiar to Ralphie in a Christmas Story...
I open the package......

WHAT??????? "Where's my phone?" 1-800....Hello? Customer Service?
Yes, I received a package today and there is a slight problem.....you see, the Carousel English Toffee Tin is completely smashed and bent. It was not packaged well and apparently was not treated very kindly while out for delivery! I would like to see if you can replace this rather expensive tin for me?

WS: "I am so sorry......yes, we will send out a replacement!"

OK...this was not the fault of the store and she immediately apologized and corrected the problem with a new replacement.
I told her I was a long time WS customer and thanked her!
I am always polite to Customer Service Reps,
since I would guess they are on the receiving end of alot of grief from rude and angry people!

This morning, I decided to examine the second item in this order.
How cute!
Now where shall I place these?
But first, let me taste test the little sour gummy stars......

WHAT????????
"Where's the candy? Where are the gummies? Where is the rest of the collectible tin?"

1-800....Hello? Customer Service,,,,I called yesterday regarding an order that I recived which was damaged......

Long story short.....

New Customer Service Rep. stated the wrong item was ordered yesterday. They re-ordered the gummy stars and so she was going to re-order the carousel. So, both items have now been re-ordered for a replacement.

Me to WS: "Are you certain?

She did not apologize......she did not thank me for ordering.....

I refuse to give up my Holiday Spirit......
But....I just may be needing some bourbon-heavily spiked egg nog
real soon......

  1. Estelle... You should have named the post Shame on Williams Sonoma. That way, everytime WS is googled your post would come up. That is a very disappointing story. I think you should send a link to your post to the big wigs at WS.

    1. It certainly crossed my mind Katie. I thought I would give them a second chance to make things right, before I posted this on FB or wrote a letter. If the second time around is as bad as the first....then I am going to have to "TAKE MY EARRINGS OFF!" Stay warm!!!!

  2. That is so disappointing when that happens! Hopefully, the next order will come and be in perfect condition!

  3. Oh sigh.... The not-so-joys of on-line shopping.

But I do continue to do on-line shopping. Mostly because I do not, not, not enjoy shopping in stores.

Nor do I enjoy trying on clothes, in stores. Nor do I like wandering in stores. (Yes, let's face it, I was not given the usual female shopping gene, when those were being passed out. -grin-)

Best of luck with the happy completion of your orders.

    1. I used to be a big mall shopper in younger days...not so much now! I love on-line shopping! Have a wonderful, fun-filled week ahead Miss Tessa! XO

  4. Disappointing indeed! It seems some don't take the time to carefully take an order or pack it. My daughter ordered a special mug for her daughter's teacher and it came broken. When she called Amazon, they were happy to replace it, but she needed to send the mug back! (It was in a larger order, so she had to come up with a box and packing to do so). I hope your holiday spirit was ruined by WS thoughtlessness, XOXO

    1. Oh yes, I think Amazon has always been spot on with their customer service, No....why be "pouty" at Christmas...hugs and love Susan!

  5. This reminds me of my experience with a huge chain store everyone loves to hate. I have TWICE over several years purchased Mr. Coffee iced tea makers to find someone had returned them with their USED pitchers in the box. I'm serious! I now never buy anything in a box I even suspect has been opened.

    1. Oh my! That's unbelievable! So sorry you experienced this! I normally never complain, but good grief...when spending our hard earned money, especially at Christmas! I was more amazed that someone actually packed both items in such a manner! WOW! Thank you for visiting today and I wish you a wonderful week!

  6. I'm sorry about your precious little tins! Sorry about your order. As said above, shame on them! Well, I hope you get your replacements. Maybe you could very gingerly try to straighten out the bent up one? Keep that Christmas spirit going and thanks for popping in to see me.
    Be a sweetie,

    1. I did in fact, try to straighten it out which was not going to happen. I think it must have been damaged prior to packing..that simply could not have happened inside a shipping box! I feel they will make the order right...hope so anyway!

  10. Yes, may everything go well from here on out. Time is getting to be of the essence. A good customer service rep is hard to find. I know of one store that hires the same woman every year to handle complaints. She is some kind of smooth.
