It's funny how some people come into your life. It may be that you are rather unaware, at the time, that meeting someone for the first time, has any real significance. Then as you wander down the road, you discover that meeting this new friend, did indeed mean something....it could be the chance, the opportunity, to do something good, something positive and meaningful.....however small.
When Darling and I were traveling down from Maine, toward our journey's end to Texas, we stopped by to see our precious daughter and family. We were only able to stay overnight and then wake up early the next day in order to take Luke the Duke to Nursery school. It was our first visit to his little Catholic nursery class and we were so looking forward to meeting his teachers, his classmates and their parents. I spoke about this in an earlier post, and mentioned that it was celebrating Dr. Seuss's birthday, along with pajama and pancake day. Oh what fun!
On our way out of the church, we were introduced to one of the moms. She had a young baby in a stroller and a precious three year old in tow. We learned that she was a new friend of Miss M and they had found they had so much in common. Recently, they had even taken up morning walks together, which they both had been thoroughly enjoying. Once we exchanged pleasantries, such as discussing life in New England and moves across country, along with raising three little ones, we quickly hurried toward our morning destination, which was brunch with Miss M before heading out toward Texas. We had a long journey ahead of us.
Life can turn on a dime. The rug which held us steady can sometimes be pulled quickly away and we find ourselves standing alone, on extremely shaky ground.
This precious young mother of three, loving wife and devoted daughter, now finds herself facing sterile hospitals, health care workers and the dreaded fight against a serious form of cancer. Within one week, her life has been changed from normal to frightening. All that is familiar and comfortable, now becomes precarious and unknown.
I take this moment to share my thoughts......God has intended paths for all of us. You see it all becomes so clear. Our paths, however brief, were meant to cross. God knew that I would send up prayers for good health on her behalf. He knew that Miss M would be a loving and close friend to her.
He knew that her three year old's fears would be calmed, when Luke the Duke and Miss M arrived one morning at his front door, to pick him up for Nursery School, both wearing a Fireman's Hat. They had discussed previously how obsessed he was with firemen and how happy this made him, pretending to be somewhat of a superhero and all. She was rather intuitive, expecting him to be a little anxiety ridden over leaving his Mom, but all his anxiety quickly dissipated when he spotted their red superhero hats, quickly ran to put his own, and off they went for an adventurous day of nursery school. Oh Miss M! How proud I am of you for thinking of this!
And so, life has changed for this family..it has been turned upside down for yet another fight toward being restored to good health. We mothers guide our families. Their extended family and friends are there to pick up the pieces and are holding steadfast in being the glue to hold the family together. Meals are being prepared and delivered daily, the children are being cared for in their Mother's absence....and through all of us, we can offer up our prayers for this lovely, young woman to keep her strong. I am so glad our paths crossed, in her life and in my life also.

May the raindrops fall lightly on your brow.
May the soft winds freshen your spirit.
May the sunshine brighten your heart.
May the burdens of the day rest lightly upon you,
and may God enfold you in the mantle of His love.
